I lived in studio apts for years in NYC. You really don't think about it that much, it's only when you have visitors who live in a house that suddenly everybody can't figure out how you can survive in one room, but, you can. You keep your space organized and not overcrowded with furniture and you just make it work for you. This couple did a great job with their limited space, very organized.

For me, the only actual 'problem' I see is not being able to open the oven all the way. Otherwise, I think it's a totally livable apartment and they've done a great job with the space. Thanks for the tour!

Yes but that's not essential. They can simply remove the top grille level and all the various cooking dishes, and insert and remove food they're baking or roasting, just on an angle. It totally works, but of course they use their smaller cooker for just themselves. It looks like the rubber seals on the oven are gone however and should be replaced this will make the oven work more efficiently. On the upside that oven would keep the entire apartment heated.

Loved this video. Lucy and Chandler are charming. They are creative and funny at the same time. They have done a wonderful job of making their tiny apartment a real home. I think that they could be the "poster couple" for the type of person who will succeed in the demanding environment of New York City. They have great survival skills, and a real orientation to serving their church/community at the same time. Please do more of this type of video. It was inspiring and YOU were hilarious. You seem to have somehow really mellowed since your return from Japan--happy and smiling a lot!

It's organized nicely but just in need of a little more walking room. I couldn't deal with the oven not opening all the way. I would get rid of one of those white West Elm nightstands so I could move the bed over a foot or so. I saw a KZfaq video where they just stacked one nightstand on top of the other to make what looked like a storage closet instead of getting rid of the nightstand altogether. Right now it's hard to get into the bathroom because of the 2 nightstands. The place looks ok but you can tell its cramped. You have to squeeze around the bed on boths sides. Can't get rid of the bed because it was $5,000. Need to get rid of the grey armchair by the window and move the concrete coffee table a little more towards the window to make walking space around the bed. I lived in a small space and I found that the best strategy was to measure a space before I bought anything to fit in that area.

@bridgetconnors8424 Be careful what you assume. 6200 for 2 people is BEYOND excessive. If your comment was meant to be a dig at anyone who lives in modular housing, shame on you. HGTV has made living in a SHED trendy! Those 2 could have purchased a home and pretty much paid it off with the amount of rent they over pay. Living frugally is nothing to be ashamed of. Chosing to spend money on things that a person values or build a saving for something really special (like buying a 1st home for each of your children when they get married, paying their college tuition, or taking the entire family on a month long holiday)I feel makes my life better. Living in 300 sq ft of upper west side with an oven that CANT open, sharing 1 desk when 2 people work from home, and having to turn sideways to get into the bathroom makes that couple look like fools no matter how shiny they are on the outside.

Lucy and Chandler make a great couple and add in a visit from Cash adds up to a very entertaining video! The apartment is really nicely put together. I'm going to look up their KZfaq channel. Thanks for showing us your place
