Have you done the math? this 'BIG' adjustment @ 6.2% is ONLY $ 93/mo on and IF you get $ 1500 SSA now! So: 1500X.062= $ 93/mo. 93X12= $ 1116/YEAR! EXCITED ARE YA? DON'T SPEND IT ALL IN ONE PLACE!!!!

All of it and then some! Every year our medical deductions( for our plans) annihilated all and then some plus prescription prices were more than the raise and I don't care what they say grocery prices always were much more than the raises! If they gave a 50% increase we wouldn't catch up!!! It's sad that they treat disabled and retired people( except themselves( government employees)) theirs have skyrocketted, it's FN B.s.!!! 🙏🇺🇸👊✌Always worse when Democrats are there because they raise taxes more than that too, it's why I'm X DEMOCRAT and always will be especially after this election stuff!!!🙏🇺🇸👊✌

So yes you can save money working retail depends on your spending habits. And like the gentleman said earlier Social Security is not meant to be your only income .My mom's income is nearly twice what mine is with Social Security and my Dads pension but she couldn't save a dime till I started handling her money and paying her bills.

Yet, we will only get less than a 2% raise in Social Security, with Medicare taking a bite out of this. Whoever decides the increase does not live where I do (Ft. Worth, TX). A minimum of $1300 each month is needed to keep up with inflation.

Thank you for adding to financial literacy. Truly unfortunate the lack of knowledge, including thinking the SSI was designed to provide full retirement income; it wasn't.

but originally, it was meant to be your only source of income. very few companies offered any retirement back then, and it was only meant for higher paid management positions. of course the govt. changed their tune later on, telling you differently.

Social Security is estimating a 4.5% COLA for 2022. For me that means an additional 48/month. Now I will be able to get that new BMW that I've always wanted.

Well I am read and hear everything from 7.2% increase on down, just looking the math over I could project 8% +, but like he says we don't know what the last quarter (July, August, September) will show, nor how they may cook the books to change the math.

Why change the COLA? People who are 62 or older pay the exact same amount as everyone else does for anything they buy.🙄😠🙄 Anything they can do to try to make the raises be less??

Every time I get an increase in soc sec. It goes to the med insurance bill as an increase in that charge. Then I get a letter from the county that my EBT payment has been reduced because my soc sec went up. Eventually they'll starve me to death and this problem will go away.

Unemployed benefits added $300 and nobody wanted to work. Elderly did not benefit. In fact some went to work to make ends. Now families are getting $1200 a month per child a month. No $$$ for elderly. When are we going to get help.

In most cities in California and mainly San Francisco and the Bay Area. SS,SSDI,SSI monthly benefits will not even cover the Rent for an average Apt to keep a roof over ones head. Rent in this area is about $2,500.00 a month up to $4,000.00 per month. Maybe the Cola raise should be set,by the cost of living and rents where Simone depending on SS, SSDI lives. The higher the rents to keep a roof over one’s head, the higher the Cola adjustment? Or a renter’s allowance, added on top of the monthly benefits to cover rent, depending on monthly rent. A lot like Section 8 housing tailored for retired seniors and disabled? Or a federal Rent Control law just for those depending on fixed incomes like SS,SSDI,SSI

Thank you. I think it's very interesting that the highest spending % is 24% and categorized as 'other'. What does that consist of? They SHOULD have an index based on what I am spending now vs earlier. Being of a VERY tight budget caused me to cut back on my spending - even unregistering a car, parking it, not fully insuring it and working around it, yet insurance is STILL one of my biggest expenses.
