I love the look of this, especially for bright, fun, fabrics and kids’s quilts. Also, it frees you from stressing out about trying to get invisible stitches!

Just looking for ways to finish a pebble quilt I am making. It has a lot of visible big stitch hand quilting on it and I didn’t want the binding to be boring. This is a great idea and a great tutorial. I am going to give it a try. Thank you!

It would! I also love hand sewing the binding. It is nice to take a couple of hours with a movie and a fresh quilt :)

Love this. I haven't hand stitched but I really like this look. It would be so on a whimsical or child's quilt.

I just tried this on a scrappy solids binding, and I love it. I did sew the binding to the front and flipped it to the back, but because it is basically a reversible quilt, the chunky big stitches made the back look as good as the front. I used a 12 wt thread by Sulky that coordinated with the quilt back but contrasted with the binding fabrics. I found it was fairly quick to stitch and less stressful on my hands than a normal hand stitched binding. Thanks for the great idea and video.

Thank you! Having a few hand stitching options certainly helps break up the monotony! I think I would machine bind occasionally if I was better at it! You certainly can’t beat the speed!

I love the look! I'll have to try it as I like hand binding also. Just one question, were you using a traditional 2.5" binding strip? I guess it doesn't really matter. It could be done on a wider binding as well I'd think. Thanks!
