I’ve just got my first pair of gayners and I really like them. The only problems is on my left foot my big toe really hurts. But my right foot is fine.

I'm a dancer and have been on pointe for 3 years, AND I NEVER KNEW HOW POINTE SHOES WERE SUPPOSED TO FEEL! This helped me so much, now I actually know what I should be looking for when I go pointe shoe fitting. The only thing they tell me is it should be snug, and I didn't correlate that to directly WHERE it should be snug?

This helps so much. I have very wide feet, so when I got my first pair of pointe shoes they had to make completely new ones because they didn't have the shoe in my width. My shoes are now broken in, and I'm sinking into them so badly. My toe pain is bad and it feels like there is a tiny knife stabbing the corner of my toe.

My toe hurts when im on demi pointe and when im walking. I feel my knuckle pushing to the top of my pointe shoe a bit. Now I bought new ones, and it’s better but I still hurt a bit. The lady said i have arched knuckled toes. Hopefully Ill get over it by time!

what if ur feet are square but tappered when u point ur foot... i have the worst big toe pain and it restricts me coz i dead going en pointe.. it makes me sad

Ugh thank u! I got my first pointe shoes and I can't even dance in them because of how bad my toe hurts and my mom is mad at me bcuz she sewed in th ribbons and elastics and wasted money ahh

I just had my refit yesterday. I'm new to pointe and the first pair weren't a good fit. I was having to simulate the Toe Savers silicone pad with a spare pair of toe spacers. My fitter said I shouldn't have to do that. Gaynors are the only shoe that works for me at this stage. We went down a half size and it seemed great. But after getting them sewn, I'm realizing the Gellows pad I was fitted with is making everything too tight. I put in the GM instant wings and they seem to be enough because the spacers I need between my toes help take up room as well. But I still get bad pain on my right big toe. It's my narrower and weaker foot. I end up with the big toe taking all the weight. I need the silicone pad in the bottom to cushion and absorb shock. But both my teacher and my fitter said I shouldn't need it and shouldn't do it. I feel like if they weren't supposed to be used or needed, they wouldn't make them. And isn't the toe pad Gaynor includes in their shoe sort of the same concept? Only it's not soft enough. And wasn't stuffing lambs wool down there back in the day also the same idea? Just now it's squishy silicone instead? Should I not do it? It hurts a lot. I have very sensitive toes. Just the slight pressure while standing flat can even feel painful to me. And my right foot is my dominant foot, so it's the more sensitive one as well. I'm not sure what to do.

So, I got my pointe shoes a couple months before my class started. Now that my class is starting soon, I tried them on again, and the end of my big toe hurts when I go up on the box. Does this mean they are too small now? Or do I just still need to get used to it? I paid a lot for them and would hate to have to buy a new pair before I even got to use them please help!

Should you break in your pointe shoes or will this cause the box to break and your toe to sink.

I got fitted for new pointe shoes the other day. My fitter was very thorough and I got a pair of shoes that in the shop felt very good. I was fitted with a pointe pad (one with gel on the top and just fabric on the bottom), spacers and lambs wool to fill in the extra space to reduce pain and pressure on the big toe (I have very tapered toes). Now when I wear them they're very paid I and I can't get them to feel the way they did in the shop. Any advice? The pain is in the tip of my big toe and and on the big toe joint (not the metatarsal). Occasionally the pain is in the rest of my toes as the pressure gets too much and turns into pain

Curious, who here gets big toe pain and what kind of pain? Is it the muscles and joints that hurt, or is it the skin? Because I feel like when I tell people I have big toe pain they think it’s the inside of my toe when it’s actually the outer top corner of my nail and skin.

I have a certain model of shoes that I LOVE, but they're too wide despite being the most narrow (my feet are very collapsible). Is there anything I can do to make them a little more snug? I'm tired of sinking down into that big toe.
