I grind some pellets and mix with flour when I am desperate for a bite in my stocked pond. Always a last resort, as I prefer to use a fly or even a worm or minnow, but the pellet dough NEVER fails.

Yeah here in New Zealand it’s illegal to do that so this is the closest thing you’ll get to a legal pellet bait!

Dip them in the water before casting. This hardens them a lot and helps them stay on the hook.

Not sure if youll see this comment was just curious with twizel starting to pick up again this time of year. Whats the best braid,fluro to run for floating baits and size hooks ive been a few times and tried to use the trout nuggys but dont think i had the right gear

Use light tackle mate, 6lb braid and 6lb fluorocarbon leader. Less is best, always fish finesse

Thanks mate, it’s a wicked spot. You match the sinker to the flow in there, so if there’s none just use a super light one

Awesome video bro! man i remember when i used to fish there ten or so years ago, the fishing was alot easier, we just fished jerk shad style soft baits there was no need for anything else, i wonder why the fishing changed, its like the fish learnt what not to bite haha :)

Yeah bro those soft plastics still definitely work but they’re pretty picky about what they’ll take, spoons really fish well in here too!

@@FishingForeverFilms i just had a google and found this "To do so, hold the fish gently on its side and gently, but firmly, squeeze the belly from the vent toward the head. You will be able to hear the burp as air is expelled from the bladder. Do not squeeze the head and gill area, as that could damage vital organs. Stimulate the fish to dive deeply." Weather that works or not? 🤷‍♂️

It’s really clear at the moment, but I’d wait for when the water gets a bit of colour. You’ll get better results and the fish won’t be as hard to catch

@@mitchellberry1341 there’s different methods for catching different fish, for salmon soft plastics work really well and also spoons do pretty good too. There’s not always one thing that’ll catch

They’re excellent eating but it’s not all about keeping them, I get more of a kick seeing them swim away

@@FishingForeverFilms I am all about catch and release as well, I know that resident trout in a river can have that muddy taste. I havent had a resident river trout for quite a few years.

Just a standard glow bug hook, nothing fancy mate

@@FishingForeverFilms - Thanks Dylan. That ties up with my experience. Before trying trout nuggets, I tried different hooks, and found if you use anything bigger or heavier than a fly hook, these nuggets slowly sink and will just sit on the bottom

Just size 12/10 globug hooks from Black Magic Tackle, they’ve got a small barb so they’re easy to pinch down with pliers

I said the name multiple times and also told you’s where can get them. Not trying to be rude at all, sometimes people can read things differently on the social media by the way what mode they’re in.
