in today’s exploration I’m taking you to an abandoned mansion in a small town in Alabama.
This home was built in 1910 and has has only been owned by 1 family since the time it was built.
A family of 6 inhabited the mansion for years. As the 3 boys and 1 girl grew up and moved away to have children of their own the husband and wife continued to live here. Sadly the husband grew very old and was battling illness and unfortunately he passed away leaving the wife alone in the mansion. Just a few years later her time on this earth would come to an end at the age of 93. Ever since her passing the home has sat abandoned with power and all of her and her husband’s belongings left inside. Stay tuned and let’s take a look inside.
I am an Urban Explorer from Oklahoma just traveling around finding the coolest forgotten places! follow me on my journey around the world finding the best unknown forgotten places on earth!

The great granddaughter commented further down, that it is NOT abandoned, no one should be going in there, and they have an inventory on everything. I expect this is going through a lengthy probate, hence why the lawn is being mowed, electricity is on, etc. I hope she gets the house secured ASAP. I sure wouldn’t want strangers sifting through my relative’s house while it’s going through probate!!!

I know it's personal and I would never expect you to show it, ever, that wouldn't be safe. Your videos inspired me to decide I want to build a house and now I'm pulling shots and ideas from your videos in order to be able to tell builders what to build.... you know when I win the lottery I never play : ) Who knows. Another thing that happens is my old family home was built in 1817.and it first didn't get power until 1929. My Mother left me the house and I decided to remodel the house. I pulled the permits and the building inspector showed up to complete the permits. Week he came in and told me that all I mean all the wiring had to be replaced and all the plumbing had to be replaced. This cost me a fortune. I worked for the power company for year's I made good money thank God and my Dad was a building contractor. If I hadn't had key people in place I would not have been able to do it.

Possibly apartments for family members or live in assistants. Always check dates on the medication bottles, that would give u a more accurate date. It looks like family started to pack and sort, then stopped. Maybe due to probate, who knows. If the houses on either side are also empty, it's possible a buyer with big plans is getting them. @@BigBankz I enjoy your videos. I am wondering about the 2nd bathroom. It creeped me out because it had a window from the inside of the house and a window on the door. No privacy. No one mentioned this in the comments. Didn’t anyone else find it strange? Is it common in the south? It’s at 30:38 in the video. I find this completely strange. I love that you include the Bible scripture. I also really like the way that you describe where you are heading and what you see. It could be anything from there's a bunch of back taxes or a mortgage still owed on the property or more likely that the repairs are just too costly for them so they just pretty much walk away or list it for sale or fight over what happens to it. As to why it is still full of stuff again it could just be costly or too hard for them to come and get everything. The fact that there are abandoned homes on both sides tells me this is a dying neighborhood for some reason.

The way this goes: Someone has a need to go into the hospital, then a nursing home/rehab, and never makes it back home. The family never completely cleans out the home -- it may be in probate... The house shows obvious signs of squatters. Leaving the power on has its perks, AC/heat can keep the inside in better condition.

Some of these houses aren’t “abandoned” people just use them for storage when they can’t live in them anymore which is why there’s electricity. My family has a house that we lived in until 2 years ago. I just go cut the grass and get the mail but it’s too run down to live in, but we all keep stuff there that we never moved to our new homes. Be careful!!!

My guess is squatters have been inside which would explain the mess & stuff being tossed around. Front shows the right side of the house drooping - foundation issues guaranteed. That likely explains some of the ceilings falling apart from leaking (from being stressed) pipes and the stairs leading upstairs that slope to one side.

A lot of big, single family homes were converted to apartment houses during WWII... I'm pretty sure that was the case with this one. The family pictured in the painting that's hanging in living room probably bought the house in the early to mid nineteen sixties... They probably got a deal on it because it was sort of chopped into apartments, but also probably wanted it that way because it looks like they had plenty of kids. The pink n blue bathroom downstairs is very period 1930s... Down to the wallpaper. That's a great house. Looks like there was a lot of life there at one point.

FYI In people’s (travels) they usually purchase things from the (countries) they have visited. The owners possible (passed away) or are in a (nursing facility) and maybe no kids or kids don’t care. **Pink & Blue are (retro) colors.

That Toyota is newer than my car, which isn't particularly old (a 2011 Honda Accord). When I saw the thumbnail and the title, I was expecting something like a 90's Toyota. What a waste... that thing needs a good cleaning and restoration, it appears to have barely gotten the chance to live! May 1, 2023 4:08 pm
