Bigbore stroker 277 part 5 - Sleeve porting

Finishing up the "external" porting of the sleeve.
Little editing error at 5:50, I had a little tour of the tools but had to cut it out because the video was too long, but apparently missed the first couple of seconds. Let me know if you would be interested in a porting tools video and maybe I'll upload one later!

Russ White Thanks! Hope I feel better tomorrow so I can actually get something done :) seems to be going back and forth between headaches and stomach cramps today. Should probably be taking it easy all day but I don't want to ruin my entire weekend by laying on the couch.

You just put the sleeve outside !!!. Don't even need a frigin freezer in Norway !!!

Nice! Need to get me a larger tank and some air tools. and a lathe, and a mill, and tig, and a press and... How hot do you get the cylinder before you drop in the sleeve? I'm always scared the epoxy in my case transfers will let go when I heat up the case to install bearings.

2STROKE STUFFING A bigger tank is on my wish list as well, and space to put it on ;) JB is supposed to handle 260C continuously, last time I had the oven at 200 which was a little higher than what I've used in other projects but it also gave me a little more time to align the sleeve. I think I will try a little lower this time though, maybe around 175.

That little overhang in the intake port has me puzzled, is that for ring retention? That would mean the piston would go waaaay down in the bore at BDC, another side effect of stroking the crank?

Benoît Genest Correct! It's for the lower piston ring which is quite far down on the piston. The ring gap is where the little thingy sticks out into the port so without it the ring would probably snap right away.

BTW I actually mentioned it on camera while filming but I cut it out while editing because the shot was messed up and nobody would understand what I was talking about because it was all happening out of view ;)

Yes, very vital! I am planning on doing a sort of "things I should have mentioned" video soon to answer some things people might be wondering about, and I'll make sure to include this :)
