ALSO! Something I don't understand is this: In this movie Jack gets the compass from a captain who's dying. BUT in Dead mans Chest there's explained he got the compass from Tia Dalma?!?/

I thought the Compass was given to him by Tia Dalma... She said that in the second movie

I loved that they brought back both Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann and when Barbossa got his heroic moment at the end. Also I really liked the moment when Jack and his crew stole the entire bank. I have definitely never seen anything like that before in a movie. And the post credit scene was simply amazing. I cannot wait to see what Pirates 6 has in store.

The 5th one is really good because it doesn't focus so much on Jack it focuses on Henry and Karina more than Jack (they still do put enough focus on him)

I feel divided on this movie. On one hand I was excited to be seeing a new pirates installment after seeing that piece of shit on strangers tides but on the other hand something feels off about this movie. Like IDK the things that I loved about the original trilogy is it was fun and had heart but these last two installments feel like cash grabs. I also hated they killed barbossa and the new characters felt rushed. I wanted more jack sparrow too lol old why people are complaining about his performance he seemed the same to me

He got the name Sparrow because he was in the crow's nest taunting Salazar like ... a little sparrow.

As a fan of franchise it was disapointing as hell. Especially the fact that Jack is acting so out of character here. These new directors and writers seem to not understand his character at all. He's not smart anymore, he's just stupid comic relief who didn't contribute anything to a movie.

Also, with the mayo thing, it's also a nod to the first pirates movie. In one of the bloopers about one of the scenes of "parley," Pintel line is "damn to the depths of whoever thought of 'parley!'" and jack responds "that would be the french." and he added "inventors of mayonnaise." It's a very hidden easter egg, but once I heard jack say it in this movie, I couldn't stop smiling.

The mayonnaise reference goes back to a cut line of dialogue between Jack and Pintel in Curse of the Black Pearl. In the cave at Isla de Muerta, Jack walks into the cursed pirates and struggles to find the word "Parley". Ragetti helps Jack say the word, and Pintel says, "Damn the mutton heads that thought up the word, Parley!" Jack responds saying, "That would be the French." That was in the film, but the next lines were cut for time. Jack continues, "The inventors of Mayonnaise." Pintel says, "I like mayonnaise!" and thus the Easter egg is set up. It was an inconsequential couple of lines that trimmed down a two-hour film, but lives on in the fans because of the DVD extras.

Your explanation for the end credit scene is as good as any. I was surprised that no scene was offered of Jack enduring marital bliss with his new wife and beautiful children. They missed what would have been pretty funny. As it is The scene did smack of foreshadowing BTW the Mayo was brought up before, during the big fight scene in the cave in Black P. right?

Just saw the film, and I have a question about another possible easter egg. In the scene where the pirates are offering tribute to the young Jack Sparrow, is that a young Barbossa standing behind him? If so, then present-day Barbossa was simply stalling for time while Salazar retold the tale of his curse.

Oh I get the joke... The skeleton can't drink, the alcohol will just spill on the ground, and he needs the mop to clean it up.

I guessed the Barbosa twist 25% into the film. In which I knew he was gone bite it by film's end. Seems like Disney likes killing father figures (Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars)

Pirates 5 was amazing

Really funny all around, excellent jokes well placed usually by Capt. Jack himself. Great bit of back story given for Jack and Barbossa, fantastic to finally see the Pearl again! I did think the plot of the antagonist was not as deeply woven as previous antagonists in the series, and the same goes for Blackbeard. You'll notice that the first antagonist actually turned into a character with just a deeper story as you see his reasoning, while the second antagonist Davy Jones presents an even more philosophical and deep character, wanting to be re-united with Calypso. That trend of deeper reasoning leads to a story of characters at odds, rather than classic boring good vs. evil. Sparrow himself was a sometimes good sometimes bad mostly witty manipulator, and in this movie he just seems like a symbol of that former ad-libbed legendary performance. I thought Will and Elizabeth would be in the movie and they weren't. I'm not dissing the movie but noticing the plot simplification trend and lack of quick-wit as sequels get made. Should have let her go when the Pearl and the Dutchman swerved on Beckett at the end of 3 and made his ship a firework.

The phrase "Dead Men Tell No Tales" is almost exclusively a reference to the ride, at least in the PotC franchise. The audio used in the transition scene from At World's End is ripped directly from the ride, and the tone in which the parrot says it is the same as the ride as well.

Does anyone else not get Jacks repetitive eunuch reference to Will Turner? It's so subtle, yet hilarious to realize that he's mentioned it in nearly every Pirates movie.

A grand easter egg itself in this film was that they still used the continuity of the Pearl's prior ship name "The Wicked Wench" like in the Teenage Jack Sparrow books! I always wanted to see Young Jackie and the Wench in some way of form and they delivered :)

Btw there is something more about the Mayonaise part This very line was in a deleted scene of Curse of the Black Pearl when Jack was surrounded by the Barbossa's crew in the cave. Then Jack said pa pa paloi palalala… Crewmate: Palaver? And the French invented the word palaver and so jack's knowledge about mayonaise was said.

The only thing I do not like about this movie is: Why do Elizabeth and Will not help with the search? I mean just as you know Elizabeth from the movies, she would never sit on the island and basically do nothing for 20 years. Well and Will has the Flying Dutchman ....... so he would kick ass.

So...are they doing their own universe for the movies and not going by the books, because in the Price of Freedom which is a prequel to the movies. Beckett actually gave Jack the Wicked Witch. (aka what is now called The Black Pearl) when he worked for the East India Trading Company as a merchant. Jack refused to deliver slaves and released them instead, which resorted in Beckett burning down the Wicked Witch. (Which is why the Black Pearl looks the way it does because when Jack made the deal with Davy Jones and Jones brought it back, it was charred from the fire.)
