I saw the "Lost kids" episode in my recommended and just got addicted to this. This makes me think I want to be a Lifeguard but I remembered that I can't swim well :/ The rescues look epic and are amazing! If you're wondering, yes, quarantine got me here.

I have trauma from drowning a lot beside a crazy anxiety, I never go deep where my foot aren't touching the ground even if I know how to swim a bit but I Just listen to my inner voice if it's too much waves or I'm feeling tired I just go out, just don't be reckless

Hoppo is an absolute LEGEND! He was so calm, cool, and collected. He was so confident that he was going to be able to get all of those people in to safety that they kept calm and didn't panic. He made it seem easy and like it was no big deal...no reason to worry or be afraid. With his help and guidance, everyone was able to get back to shore with minimal effort. It was amazing! He's a great leader and the kind of person you want around during a crisis. To all of the lifeguards of all the beaches/pools/waterparks, etc. of the world....thank you all for doing what you do.

I was annoyed by the people laughing having fun while being rescued, but then I realized, a large part of that might be a natural reaction to not dieing. People react to trauma in different ways, and thinking you're about to die, is traumatic. It relieases a chemical cocktail into the brain that can, and often does result in almost uncontrolable laughter. The patients are not making light of almost dieing, they're reacting to having almost died.

This is 100% true. The body releases all sorts of chemicals when stressed, and laughing is a super common reaction to that. They probably didn’t find it fun or funny what so ever, they were just terrified and relieved at the same time.

I have had people laughing while I take them off a steep tree skiing run with a broken leg. It's natural. Also, riding in a toboggan (Or on a surfboard I imagine, more relevant in this case) with someone who knows what they are doing controlling it can be a blast.

This is so true. Our boat tipped once with me, my mom and dad on board and only my dad can swim (we don't have life vests). We were so lucky it only tipped and not sunk. When we were holding onto the tipped boat, I remember smiling and laughing at the ridiculously stupid situation, and was unnaturally calm, but right after we got rescued and is finally on land, I started crying after realizing the severity of what just happened, that we could've died.

I bet the poor volunteer who pulled the “Shark Alarm” feels awful Edit: Because there is some debate war over this, I can stand by both sides. Yes, the “Shark Alarm” was pulled somewhat haphazardly, but it had the right idea (public safety) behind it even though with the Lifeguards didn’t know.

I've been in there position before. A few months before I went on holiday I had to quit my swimming lessons (for reasons I'm not saying) Then when we went on holding I thought I'll be fine I'm good at swimming! But then there was a rip. Luckly I managed to get out soon. I've learnt my lesson there. Never be over-confident! 🦋🌼❤️🤣

OMG!!!!!! Talk about your real everyday superheroes. Hats off, handshakes, a bow, and continued applause to them all. There are few people in this world who can stay that well physically and mentally prepared plus maintain extreme focus for 8/10 hours without pause.

I was pulled out of a pool and kept from drowning by my braid as a little kid. Yeah it hurt, but I sure liked it better than being under water, restricted by a panicking pool mate. We were 5, he got scared and held on to my neck, we both went under in a depth we could stand in. I couldn't find my footing with him struggling on me. Teacher grabbed him by the shorts and me by the braid. I reckon he got the short end of that bargain.

I really hope these lifeguards are paid very well! Talk about the physical endurance, strength, and constant alertness it would take to work at Bondi Beach! It doesn't seem like there are many dull moments because of the mass amount of people! All the lifeguards also seem so sweet/friendly. :-)

They play humorous music for the christmas rescues but imagine if there wasn’t a team of lifeguards? It wouldn’t have been 50 tourists saved but 50 drownings. That’s sobering and u realize how amazing they all are. They save human life. LIVES.
