I just happened to stumble into this channel. I served several years in the danish sector of the North Sea on danish rescue vessels in the late 80 ties. I was in "Protector" "Preventer" and others serving the Gorm, Thyra and Danfield. The ships were owned by Svitzer and were former trawlers. I see lots of improvements has happened since. I`ve been retired since 2005 after 50 years at sea, but I do`nt miss the salt water, but funny to watch the channel. --- Thumbs up and have a good watch.

Bigwavemaster1 Haha of course! But that old story line comes back, the one we told our kids around the fire ( no no, not a house fire.... just a campfire), “ STEP BY STEP........ INCH BY INCH....”. and then you would scream and shout “ they GOT THEM” and of course, someone would sneak up and touch one of the kid’s heads. We don’t go anywhere but we do go slowly. As always, your command and mine operated in the exact same way, once by land, twice by sea. Around and around the cities we would go.. waiting, looking and listening for the inevitable alarm horns....

The raw footage is excellent and very intriguing. Most times though, I can't tell what is going on. Yeah, cooking & eating, emergency drills and cleaning. I'd really like to know what the different equipment does, what people are saying. I see you have a rudder or pod control on your left and throttle on the right with radar. Are you just holding a position or making headway? Tons of questions! What was the helicopter doing? What was that huge grid assembly that was being lifted by the crane? As you take us around the ship you could narrate it or use subtitles to describe the action. Can anybody be on the bridge? If you have time over the month (LOL) you are could really produce an informative video. When do you need to put up those storm shutters? Do you maintain just a radar watch? You have lots of curious viewers and subscribers! Thanx!

David Bayles You make a good point about the commentary. I rely on people watching the previous videos but there are many new subscribers who have never seen the equipment being used. We are about to start a new trip so I shall try and explain things as we go.

@@Bigwavemaster1 Awesome! I started boating at ten years and have always had a love and respect for the water. I became SCUBA certified at 16. I ran our Viking 46' Sport Fish from Chesapeake Bay, MD to Fort Lauderdale, FL at 22. Unfortunately, have been away from that life for almost three decades and miss it terribly. Any videos on boats of any kind bring me right back to my happy place. 🖥️ 👀 😊 👍 👌 🙏

Vietnam Vet The helm is right at the front of the bridge, midships. The gyro compass is in a cupboard but we have digital repeaters all over the place. Yes, we are on autopilot most of the time except when we’re on close standby or entering or leaving harbour.

We are sometimes given the option to run for shelter but that is not really a viable option since we would then have to steam in conditions nearly as bad as this. Either that and head in long before the storm arrives and out again long after it has left. The best thing is to stay where we are and ride it out. By the way. The conditions in this video are only half as bad as some we experience.
