Hello zoufy - I have never ridden an Ascent. I don't think I will ever own one either. I don't like riding dirt/gravel or MTB'ing. Given a full day off I would rather ride my road bike then go in the dirt. I guess I would probably lean more towards an Outback for the course described since it is closer to my road bike than an Ascent, but I'm not sure. I don't feel I am the right person to do a video on this topic.

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad I hear you, but sometimes you just gotta have a long day without traffic worries! My Ritchey breakaway cross is serving my off-pavement needs but tires are limited to 38-40mm and canti brakes still work but I'm wondering how bigger tires and disc brakes might expand my options, maybe even sleeping under the stars once in a while... 🌠 Looking hard at the Outback, but maybe it's too close in real world function to my Ritchey cross bike which is kind of a do-everything swiss army knife bike.

⁠this is a good conversation to have. The 2 times I’ve ridden the Outback it feels more like an all day bike. It doesn’t feel as zippy as my Swiss Cross Canti. So I’m guessing if I’m not racing and I’m packing extra gear the Outback makes more sense and it’s h more stable. If I’m racing and I can get away with riding narrower tires like 36’s then the Swiss Cross would get the nod. Have you considered Paul Mini Motos for your SC? They are amazing!
