I just built a motorized bike and I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to make this video. My clutch works great out of the box, but after watching your video I understand how it works... Which will come in handy when I inevitably have a problem with it.

Could you do a video on the clutch itself, serviceable components on the clutch, how often to expect to need to service the clutch, etc.

Thank you! I just finished building my 1st bike and you answered my question just by going through a simple demonstration. Saving me a lot of research time. And in addition to that I wouldn't a lot more about how the clutch works and how it engages in disengages. Thank you so very much, your new subscriber.

In the case of the clutch pins are hitting the inside of the outer case. Brand new engine. The cable arm is almost all the way to the adjustment on the case as well.

I recently took the cover off where the driving sprocket is and noticed that when the clutch handle is pulled tight and the pin is pushed in the camshaft creates a lot of stress on the bolts holding the cover on (pushes the cover away from the engine). It actually stripped the longer bolt and inner threads closest to the clutch arm. Is this amount of stress from the camshaft on the cover normal? Is it possible that the camshaft was installed in the wrong position on the crank arm?

Yes very helpful video. I have a new motor. My clutch isn't engaging when I pull on the lever or when I push the lever by hand. I'll have to disassemble the clutch to see if the spring is to tight. On a unrelated subject I noticed in the video that your chain guide is pulling down on the drive side of the chain instead of pushing up on the return side. What is that about? I've never seen that done and honestly it doesn't seem right. I guess there is a reason you do it, please explain. I'm always interested in what people think. It seems that you would want pure drive with no possible obstructions. But I guess it works for you.
@bikeberry
@bikeberry 6 жыл бұрын
You are completely right, the chain tensioner should be pushing up on the return side. This install was done in haste and without proper information. We are constancy trying to improve the quality and content of our videos. I'm not saying he was let go after this video, but he hasn't been part of our team since shortly after this video.

I want to replace my manual clutch with a centrifugal clutch. Would cut down on all wires. Do they have longer clutch shafts on the output end? I have really wide tires and need the sprocket to stick out further than stock. Does anyone have any safe solution to having the sprocket stick out a little further. I can't bring in rear sprocket and have it dish side out I should prob look into a flat rear sprocket instead of stock one.

Why would you use a hammer and screwdriver on the flower nut? All you have to do is pull in the camshaft arm and turn the flower nut in with your fingers. No tool is needed. I love when people do funny things, then make videos teaching others to do the same funny things.

but you have to understand the push pin is to short I got the push pin several time and everytime I order one it was to short when it was all assembled the push wasn't almost sticking out were the flower nut is on the pad a lot of times to short and kind of sunk in the flower nut like it to short so it make it real hard to make the clutch pad work right with out making the pad slip when drive it and and make the clutch handle to tight to pull so you guys really need to exception on the those pieces and the push pin to make sure it long enough before shipping it out ya that the only thing keep to completing my project

@HueMongussD 3 жыл бұрын
Definitely no mechanical engineer. You put the chain tensioner in the absolute worst location of the drive-train. lol... Good luck with that... You should never put an idler pulley between the drive gear and the driven gear. That path should be unimpeded. You are putting a huge amount of stress on that idler pulley in that location. All slack should be taken up on the trailing path, where there will be practically no stress on the idler pulley.
