Beautiful landscape, I did Pulaski to Fries and back in 8.5 hours, still have a large section of the trail under renovations-- had to take a really extended road route around but was worth it.

Beautiful trail! I love the smells and sounds of a forest in the rain, but prefer the sun for riding! Definitely gonna be on my list when we move to Knoxville. I'd love to see you introduce people and what bike they are riding too. Thanks for bringing us along and also for the trail etiquette lesson with horses. Far too many people are not aware of both!

Thank you for making such a well produced and inspiring video. The technical parts were very well done (consistent audio levels, focused and smooth videos, timely stills) and the information was cohesive, concise, clear and interesting. It was a vicariously enjoyable ride.

Nice trail. I didn't like the limited camping. First one crowded and noisy. I like quiet and natural noise. Second campground was next to a parking lot. People showed up at midnight. Overall a pretty ride.

Nice trail that I was not aware of. Keeping a group that big together is no small task: Congrats on that too. Everyone loves their new bike when it is new. Now that you’ve done some rides and trips on it, how about another video on what went well, and what you would change.

Thanks Nathan for another awesome video. We had this ride schedule to do last September but life got in the way and we had to cancel. Laura and I were going to do the length in a day, hotel overnight and then ride back. I'm re-thinking that now. That's a pretty long day ride on gravel and then get up and repeat. Another awesome video!

I actually think what you are suggesting is very doable, especially if you don’t ride the spur. We didn’t start until after 3 PM the first day.

Yup I can tell y'all ain't from around here!! Lol Pulaski is pronounced Pull-ass-key and Fries is Freeze like freeze your butt off! You mentioned water being somewhat scarce so are bike shops and bike parts. Virginia has some of the cleanest,well maintained campgrounds in the nation but what I noticed is they charge you for everything hence the parking fee for the NWT. Out of state residents pay a higher fee than in state residents. Looks like y'all had fun and appreciate the ride along!
@KentuckyCycling
@KentuckyCycling 2 жыл бұрын
I tried to do my research with regard to pronunciation. I thought I said "freeze" for Fries. As for Pulaski, it's interesting that you say it's "Pull-ass-key" as that's how we pronounce a county by the same name here in KY. But, according to a VA place names pronunciation guide, it's "pew-LAS-key", which is why I said it like I did. And I agree about the fees. It's a lot compared to other states. But, the amazing beauty is worth the price!

I've paddled the gorge many times so I'm guessing the trail is upstream from the New River Gorge Bridge. Did anyone have any flat tires?

We plan to do this same route this weekend but in 2 days. Trying to figure out where to get firewood and what time at the Cliffview campground. We plan to sleep in hammocks, I was told there are spots at each site to hang hammocks. Is that true?

Love the video. How does the quality of the trail compare to Greenbriar? I know 38-42 mm is probably ideal, but what is the minimum tire diameter you could get away with ? What was your average speed while riding? Thanks for these great videos. They are such a great resource, better than any book or website.
@KentuckyCycling
@KentuckyCycling 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kudos. Greenbrier is a little faster rolling and more hard packed so we likely moved a little slower there as a result, but it’s still a great trail with amazing beauty. I’d say 35mm would be a minimum, but wider would be better. Not sure about our average speed as I was leading a group and we were taking breaks along the way.

My partner has an ebike with a limited range of about 35 miles. Any comments on doing this trail with an ebike and motel stays, which would have to be about 35 miles apart more or less? Thanks. Trail looks awesome
