The Yeti ASR is back for 2024! It’s a fast and light little XC whip with some cool retro styling. We can guarantee it doesn’t ride like an old XC bike, though. It’s at the cutting edge of the category with modern geometry, a great suspension feel, and all the bells and whistles. Stick around to see what it’s all about.

I have an SB130 LR and have loved it. However since having 2 kids I tend to not enter full send mode anymore but in order to maximize my time in the saddle leaving from the house or office is best. I live in Arkansas and we have all types of trails including super groomed ones in Bentonville. I want a lighter bike and been eying the Spur, Element, Blur but with the recent sales I have been leaning toward the Cervelo ZFS-5 (my road bike is an R5). With this comparison to the Blur it sounds like the ASR and ZFS are real similar. Yeti on dirt does feel right to me but the difference is about $2k for the same build currently.
@bikersedge

We did an XC showdown last summer with a handful of those bikes. Go check that one out. It could help. Worth noting, the Spur and Element are way more trail than the XC bikes like the ASR, Blur, ZFS5.

First Yeti I've said "damn that's nice" about in like 5 years. Really, super hope they carry this over to the 125-140mm travel range in the future. This would be such a killer bike packing bike too. I honestly find it a bit odd they didn't do what you suggested with two build kits and maybe a hair more travel to go straight up against the Epic/Epic EVO combo, maybe that's a lunch-ride build in the future?

@bikersedge

I’m probably the last guy to ask about XC racing. Not something I’ve done a lot of. The Oiz is the fastest climber of that bunch with the most efficient suspension design though. If the descents are gnarly both the BC40 and the ASR are more forgiving.

ok so removed cable ports for saving grams, but in general wireless components are heavier than mechanical? So wouldn't you limit yourself to using only wireless components yet not even save weight?
@bikersedge
@bikersedge 4 ай бұрын
Wireless drivetrains are lighter overall once you factor in cables and housing. Someone did it once and it was within a few grams but wireless was lighter. The AXS dropper is heavier but I bet you still net a weight savings after it’s all said and done. The frame alone is a quarter of a pound lighter.

The thing about these bikes is once you add heavier casing tires, wide wheels and beefier forks the weight advantage over a higher end long travel trail bike is so negligible that you must be after the geo or lack of travel. I've heard these people exist but I live in the mountains 😅
