In a way, the First Lady helps the President get elected. You couldn't imagine someone running without a First Lady and actually winning. While the ballot will never have the First Lady's name on there, Michelle did contribute in some marginal way to Barack's success. James Buchanan was the only president to ever get elected without ever marrying, and he had a rough time as President. Grover Cleveland, as a concession, also got elected without a First Lady but married in his first term. Both of them also got elected when women didn't have the right to vote, so I'm not going to give it much credence for that reason.

I worked for a company where i worked with 90% blacks. All were cool as hell by the way. That being said when it was time for us to decide whom to vote for president i asked the guys i worked with who they were voting for. They said obama. I said what is it about him that tells you he is someone you want to be president? Their answer? Hes black. That was their reason.
