Bill Burr is probably the only sensible argument against cancel culture and believe her and social justice in general. Dude's definitely got an angry worldview, but he's also capable of coherently explaining his views, and i respect the shit out of that.

Glenn Close's pregnant character killed a rabbit because, historically, a rabbit was a symbol of fertility, and the phrase "the rabbit died," means someone got pregnant.

The whole point is not to put anyone - women included - on a pedestal.

@Angry pillow I'm from the Muslim world. Women here are respected. Especially mothers, Islam puts them on a pedestol. I would give my life away for most of the muslim women out there, cuz they are respectful and god fearing. Can't say I would do the sams for the modren western women. So I do see his point.

@@mosaif_mudawi There's many Iranian women getting a hard time for taking off their headscarfs right now and we have many afghani female refugees who have had to escape the Taliban's cruel ways. Women have only just gained the right to drive in the emirates -- sure sounds like a weird pedestal to me

I think the point is, being overrated doesn’t mean compared to nothing. Everyone jumps to that conclusion. He just means their value is equal to their contribution, but today they may contribute less but the demand they are put on a pedestal. “Back then, she had a defined role. Now he’d do the punishment and be the one to clean it up”

Personal opinion here that no one asked but here it goes anyway: I think it all comes up to balance, and how society always struggled to reach it. The extreme sides seem so attractive for some reason that at the end it comes up to 2 teams opposite from each other. Its how social media operates. There's little ground for a "middle ground", for arguments, for constructal debate.. 50 years ago almost nobody gave a shit about how woman were treated, which was wrong. Today those things are spoken in the open and people in general are more aware of it, but then a new radical movement was created in the process: "Always believe in woman no matter what". Now shit went so far to the other side that in a lot of cases there's no need for evidence anymore. And worse of all, the feminism movement is now a "trend", completly materialize into lazy slogans and brands that are only seeking the money behind marketing campaigns. People behind a screen trying to cancel other people (even dead people) thinking they're feminists and that they're fighting for some cause, when in reality they're just stupid brainwashed persons. True feminism is about equality between genders, and started a long time ago, its not new. The difference is that now its beign capitalized by companies and politicians.

Yes, yes, yes. Same with raising kids. And every other type of relationship in your life. Coworkers, friends, significant other, family, the people helping you in the airports, everywhere. Treat everyone with love and respect, period, regardless of age, sex, gender, orientation, race, etcetcetc. Even when they may not deserve it, because you treating them as a human being with love and respect could turn their terrible day into a better day. You may be the only person who was nice to them that day. It's not acceptable to hit another human, to hit a dog or throw a cat across the room, but it's OK to do so to kids? This entire nation is full of diabetic, overweight, stress and anxiety eaters because of the whole "clean your plate or have it for breakfast" thing. People get stressed and eat because that's what they relate to food because that's what they were taught. Clean your plate, so everyone in America eats way past the point of being full because when they were kids, their stomach (being only the size of their fist, btw) was overstretched because they were forced to clean their plates that had way more food than the size of their little fists. Now, with all that being said, there are ways to respect your kids as humans and still have rules and expectations. There are ways to communicate with your significant other without being overdominant or being a doormat. It's all about balance. Period.

No one these days seem to know what overrated even means. It doesnt automatically mean "bad", it means valued higher than their actual value. The actual value can still be very high and they can still be overrated. If someone told me Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the best soccer player in history they would be overrating him. That doesnt meant Zlatan suck, he is still one of the best players in modern history. Women today are DEFINITELY overrated. By the state, by politics, by society and not to mention by themselves. Ever seen modern women? "I deserve to be treated like a princess" No, you fakking dont, you deserve to be treated depending on how you act. And acting like that doesnt even deserve respect. Or the shopping list of requirement they demand a guy match to "be worthy" of them. "He has to be 6 feet, make 7 figures, be fit, have a full set of hair, like to travel, have good humor, no kids" etc etc etc 12% of the global population is over 6 feet so just the FIRST criteria puts them almost in a top10% situation. Then he has to make 7 figures. How many of the 12% of men who are 6 feet+ you think make 7 figures? These women have like 5-10 guys GLOBALLY that would fit their list while they sit on their axx on tinder eating doritos. These women think their value = these men... *A 32 year old, slightly chubby, single mom with purple hair extentions, working at Starbuck puts her own value on the same level as Henry Cavill.* And the vast majority of media and society is clapping like seals. Anyone who disagrees gets banned. HOW is that not overrating them? The average woman is not worth any more than the average man. You know who the average men are? The plumbers, the bricklayers, the factory workers, the electricians and the carpenters. All the men 90% of modern women look down upon and even heckle. Women are so RIDICULOUSLY overrated, its not even funny.

We just have a real problem with overcorrection in this country. We do it with everything. "Women are overrated," is really a misnomer to his point. It's more like, `equality` has morphed into `entitlement.` The patriarch is morphing into a matriarch. At least in these little boxes we stare at all day. Out here in the real world, the majority understand the difference. You can tell just by looking at your own little portion of the world in actual reality.
@somersetcace1

@Angry pillow You're missing the point. To go by these little boxes we stare at it's mayhem in EVERY community. That is not reality in any sense. Does that mean it doesn't happen anywhere? Of course not.

@Angry pillow You're not getting the point here. I'm not even sure what you're arguing against. The point is, if you stare at a dumpster all day, it's no surprise that all you see is trash. If you build your perception of the world by staring at TV's, PC's and smartphones all day, it's no surprise your perception will be skewed. I'm not suggesting every community, city, state, or country is the same.

As an 80's baby, 86 to be specific, I was raised way different than these kids today. I raise my kids with a strict regiment. What I learned from my dad is punishment had to come with a lesson on what you did wrong, so you can understand the problem. My dad was the enforcer and my mom played the civil role. If I didn't eat my dinner, like Bill Burr, I had to eat it the next day. I translate that to my kids. While I'm eating a nice breakfast platter with all the fixins', my kids are eating the same plate they didn't want last night. :)

70s baby here ✋😐 Similar upbringing & many a time I had supper for breakfast 😆 In fact I have to admit, that is the only thing I wouldn't incorporate in parenting! Mainly because since my parents grew up & then brought me up, the food industry went to sh!t. Eating evolved from fresh home cooked meals to highly processed & pumped with sugars, fats and chemicals to disguise disgusting what they're passing as food really is. As if that wasn't bad enough, even the size of plates in a dinner set has increased by almost 75% since the 70s & restaurants serve one person enough food to feed a small family. Quantity over quality has created a generation of gorging & overeating. And here's me, trained as a child to ignore when I'm full & always empty my plate 😂 it did not make for a good combination & food habit I won't pass on lol

100% agree With physicla punishment there are really only 2 rules one need to follow: 1) Dont inflict any permanent harm. 2) Make absolutely crystal clear why theyre being punished If you stick to these rules, your kid will not suffer any negative consequences. I was an absolute hellraiser as a kid, I doubt any kid I ever knew got more spankings and switchings than I did and Im SO damn thankful I got them cuz I wouldve been a nightmare as an adult if I was just allowed free reign as a kid. Not ONE time was I spanked without knowing EXACTLY why. And I had earned every single one of them.

With that logic I could destroy some dudes home, key his car, slap him around and slander him and he can't do anything cause that guy's a bodybuilder and even though I'm a man he still can't hit me back

Well whoever this host is, he's doing a pretty terrible job. When Bill addresses the lack of comfort in the room after mentioning due process, but up until that point the host was being really ott with his reactions to what Bill was saying, almost like he was hyping up the audience against whatever he had to say. This TV host sucks.

ofc he was... if he said "i agree with everything you said" he would just lose his job.... Bill Burr is probably the second comic with more appearances on Conan just after Norm Macdonald...

Rule of thumb man, if it was on cable it's not copyrighted. No need for a filter.

0:58 well, the thing is, honestly, no one asked you. Add a comment to a joke or answer from Bill (since he's the one you're supposedly reacting to now). No idea why you as always feel the need to chime in with an answer that wasn't even remotely directed at ya. Conan, asked, Bill. Simple as that. I paused at the minute mark, write this comment. And gonna shut down, because I have a feeling this will once again be a million pauses per minute. Just sayin'

I never understood the point of these stories. Like what? Bill and brother grew up to be superior human beings? Whether or not your parents hit you or not, you grew up to just as horrible a human being as everyone else .
