Bill makes so many valid points, it really is a silly argument. I've been a stay at home dad for the last 3 years. It's frustrating sometimes sure, but its not hard and holy hell it's fun. Especially when your kid is like you personality wise. Can't really say I had a hard day when we spent half of it watching disney movies.

When I was in grad school, there was an elderly couple who walked their two pit bulls through our campus and they loved me cause I actually knelt down and said hi and played with them. The couple said I was one of the only people who actually treated them like puppies. They gave me kisses and hugs every time. A dog just wants to please it’s owner. If the owner has cared for and trained the dog properly, the dog is safe.

The issue is calling parenting a job in the first place. It's challenging and rewarding and can end tragically if you mess it up. Saying it's a "job" makes it seem like you get paid for it, and you can quit anytime. Plus, most parents these days have to have jobs as well. Being a parent isn't a job, but it's a modifier on your entire life, including your actual job.
@jordan9604
@jordan9604 Жыл бұрын
It's hard, but not a job. You have to show your children that you can make life your b!+€#. So that way, they can easily do the same and not have to go through the same hardships you did. We all get better, 1 generation at a time. We can step back more than 1 generation though.
@Idalvene
@Idalvene Жыл бұрын
The thing is it's also a choice. That's where I draw the line, if you took that decision and didn't know what it meant and now feel stuck, that's on you and you're not OWED sympathy or praise just for the fact you are a parent.
@vonb2792
@vonb2792 Жыл бұрын
The day, women went to ''work'', motherhood became a job for society instead of a ''duty''... Motherhood became a ''choice'' and we all expect to be paid for our choices which requires ''commitment''... Parenting is emotional commitment and the extension of one self. Parenting shows, the only thing you can control is yourself to empower your environnement, the environnmenet is out of control, and parenting is learning to deal with it. It's 101 management lol, cause that little kid sure aint waiting after you lol

"But you were probably paid adequately for it" Yeah and most mothers have someone providing everything for them. Which is pretty god damn adequate pay if you ask me. I'd take a job that provides everything for me in a heart beat. Cooking and cleaning not that hard, and taking care of children is stressful but not difficult. As for working moms, the ones who were abandoned by a pos guy and have to work their ass off to survive, I have a lot of respect for them but the same amount of respect I have for single fathers who were left by a pos woman. But most working moms (80% of divorces are initiated by the woman) kicked the father out of their and their children's life so no sympathy for them. Also even though motherhood is challenging no one ever bring up the challenges of fatherhood.

Boerboels for life. Love my 200lb foot crushing, hip checking, full body heater of asphyxiation. Unlike a pitbull though, people will regularly cross a busy street to see him in the daytime. Even if they stop at a safe-ish distance first to ask his permission. I've even had people who were clearly on something and screaming at the moon in the middle of the night stop and stare in disbelief. "Wow that is a huge dog. Is it safe?" My answer is always "If you act safe, he is safe." Way better than carrying, although I endorse both. I have a deeper appreciation for MrLboyd, having discovered he's another Boerboel dad. Please keep up the fine work, sir.

There's a strong argument to be made that raising kids is one of the most IMPORTANT jobs on the planet- but it's so damn obvious that it's NOT the most difficult job. Other jobs that are right on par for being as important as raising kids (ethics aside) is things like the military, doctors/dentists, even plumbers who save more lives than doctors. The reason I say ethics aside is because obviously neglecting your kids (as opposed to neglecting your job) is far worse; but those jobs I listed are of equalish importance to raising kids. Again, ethics and morality aside, no point trying to raise a kid if your country is invaded and there's mass killings everywhere, or dying at 10 years old to some flu because there were no doctors to give vaccines to strengthen the immune system and the like, or dying at 5 years old to some disease due to lack of sanitation without plumbers, etc... Just a very, very low quality of life. Morally, raising kids is the most important job, objectively it's tied with a few other jobs of importance, and like 100th for being the most difficult job. People who say it's the most difficult job are delusional and only say it for the self-gratification.
@karenstrong8887

It is very difficult but I loved it. My eldest granddaughter is a Research Scientist. She told me she didn’t think she would have children because my job was really hard. If they are not raised correctly you wouldn’t have any Military, Doctor’s etc. it was not easy helping to raise 50 of them but I am proud of all the one’s we got to keep.

I have to agree about "nothing better". I grew up with a 160lb Newfoundland/lab/rottweiler mix. He looked just like a massive black lab with a little longer hair, long legs, and a little bigger head and teeth. Tons of great stories with that dog. Absolutely a sweetheart to us, but would intimidate every other animal in the vicinity. Big dogs are the best dogs imo.

I love all of how he talks about this in all his bits, yes it is an important job and has some hard parts, but just like any job you know that before you decide to accept the job, have children, etc. Parenting can be tough for anyone, just depends, I am single with no kids, so I don't know and will never know, that is not my choice or wish to experience that. I work 60 hours a week, I see people with kids and see how they are and I am glad I never have to deal with that for a second, so yeah your job has some issues, I work 8-11 hours a day for weeks straight with no days off and no breaks during the shifts, so yeah any job has something, he is just saying take responsibility for your choices and don't act like you are forced into some difficult task when you aren't. Every dollar I earn goes in my pocket, if you have kids then you took on the responsibility to take care of other humans, if you chose to be single with no kids like me then your job and situation would be different. So yeah basically this is about the reality of reality, accept the duties of the job you chose or get another job or don't have a job at all! Very simple.

I still refer to my last dog as a rescue, purely because she was 15 and it -wasn't- a no kill shelter.

Im gonna have to disagree with Bill on one thing. I work in a cold storage facility. Thr coldest section of my work is -40° Fahrenheit. Sometimes I wear warm pajamas under my refrigerator gear. And my job is insanely difficult.

I mean... of course not, but if there was an argument to be made for why it's the hardest job, it should be "because it's the job that has been failed at the most".

Stay at home parents do get paid, the working parents paycheck is actually both parents paycheck 😂

Yeah, but some feminists call being a stay-at-home mom "unpaid labor", which is complete bs.
@jakegabel2815
@jakegabel2815 2 жыл бұрын
@@JakkFrost1 literally, if you consider being a parent labor or a job then you're doing it for the wrong reasons. Being a parent is just being a parent it's just life they are lucky not having to do anything other than parent there's single parents that have to also work and barely get enough to pay for the friggn day care to go to work in the first place. Even couples parents sometimes both work don't get enough to pay bills. If you're a stay at home parent and your family is living comfortably then stfuuuu about putting dvds in. Not even anymore cuz netflix 😂😂 And I am a dad, only a couple years in but I believe if you see it as a job you should have never had that kid to begin with.

Imma be honest I don’t wven like the saying “being a mother is a thankless job” because that all depends on how good of a mother you are. If you’re good and your kids love you then you will be repeatedly thanked and loved. Hell sometimes even other people will say “thanks for raising your kids right. They’re good people”. So it’s not really a thankless job it’s only an UNFORGIVING job. You don’t get to mess up. You have someone’s life in your hands that you are meant to shape into a good human being. So don’t fuck it up. You chose to bring that person into the world. So stop crying and saying “woe is me”. You made that person by either being an idiot or you just wanted to have one and kept it. No forgiveness in any part of being a parent
