‘Billboard has named ‘Endless Love’ the greatest song duet of all time and, topped a new Valentine's Day (14Feb 2024), themed poll to find the best love songs of all time.The ballad, beat out Boyz II Men's "I'll Make Love to You" and "We Found Love" by Rihanna and Calvin Harris to claim the number one spot on Billboard magazine's Top 50 Love' Songs of All Time list in 13Feb 2024 .
‘Endless Love’ Producer Jon Peters and director Franco Zeffirelli asked Lionel Richie to compose an instrumental along the lines of the theme from Love Story for the movie Endless Love starring Brooke Shields. When Zeffirelli changed his mind and asked Richie if he would add lyrics, the Motown star agreed to write some.
Then Zeffirelli made one more request - to add a female singer, someone like Diana Ross.
In 1982 ,the song was nominated for an ACADEMY AWARD for Best Original Song ( and was the second song with which Ross was involved that was nominated for an Oscar ), for a GRAMMY,
and for a GOLDEN GLOBE ) .
Also in 1982, the song won an American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Single.
In 1981, ENDLESS LOVE, spent a record of 9 consecutive weeks at # 1 of the USA charts (where sold 2 millions copies, became PLATINUM record and was # 1 in CANADA ( for 6 weeks, sold
over 150.000 copies and became PLATINUM record, furthermore, always in this country, got a nomination for JUNO AWARD, in the category "International Single of the Year" ), # 1 in BRASIL,
1 in AUSTRALIA for 4 weeks ( where sold over 300,000 copies and became 3x PLATINUM

The soulful composition became the biggest-selling single of Ross' career and her 18th career number-one single (including her work with The Supremes).

IL 14 Febbraio 2024, la rivista musicale " Billboard " ha eletto " Endless Love", la più bella canzone d'amore di tutti i tempi, battendo canzoni come " I'll Make Love to You" dei Boyz II Men's, "We Found Love " di Rihanna, " How Deep Is Your Love" dei Bee Gees, Whitney Houston con la cover di Dolly Parton " I Will Always Love You " e " I Can't Stop Loving You" di Ray Charles.
