......"She lost because her performance wasn’t good enough " ??? She lost because in the committee of the Academy awards there were Judy Garland and Vincent Minnelli ( Liza Minnelli's mother and father ) and their Hollywood' friends ! Infact, far away from the Academy awards , Diana Ross won t he " Cesar " award ( the French film Oscar) and a " Golden Globe"( the jury of the Golden Globe Awards is made up of critics of the foreign press accredited in Hollywood ). And , when to Liza Minnelli was asked who would win the Oscar, she replied: " two words,: Diana Ross" . And, again ,Liza Minnelli, after many years, in an interview was sincere and said : " Diana Ross' performance was better than mine ".

You see, getting an Oscar or any award is not important. THE BEST AWARD OR REWARD IS MAKING SOMETHING OF YOUR LIFE. Diana is a legend, an inspiration and a talent that made a unique contribution to humanity. So anybody who makes such a stink about not getting an Academy Award is just plain superficial. I AM GLAD SHE DIDNT WIN AN OSCAR BECAUSE THAT AWARD IS NOTHING BUT A SUBJECTIVE TRAIN WRECK HANDED OUT LIKE PANCAKES TO MAKE EVERY POLITICAL SPECTRUM HAPPY, IT IS POINTLESS. Make something out of your life, THAT’S THE BEST AWARD.
@ServandoIV

Why does everything have to be about racism? Qualified Asians were being discriminated in favor of blacks and latinos getting into Harvard which thankfully the Supreme Court struck down. The Oscars are nothing but a subjective award. So how does anybody even determine who did a better performance? This is silly, it’s like saying an impressionist painting is better than a realist classical. Or an orange chicken is better than a barbecue. People get so caught up with superficial glamor and fake glory. The best award is the work and if it stands the test of time. The Color Purple NEVER WON ANY OSCARS. Yet it is still being shown almost every year on tv. It’s not about getting an award, it’s about creating a masterpiece. Nothing is fair on earth and the world will never be fair, that’s just how life is. As soon as a person realizes that unfairness is part of human nature, people would stop being so uptight, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO AWARD SHOWS. What’s unfair is when qualified Asians are discriminated on purpose against the law in favor of another race.

...before, the same things happened to blacks and after, to latinos discriminated in favor of whites : as you see, the story repeating ! So ? In the case of Diana Ross, when to Liza Minnelli was asked who would win the Oscar, she replied: "two words,: Diana Ross" I know, that an award is just an award but it is also a recognition of skill, of the talent of an artist. But the absurd thing is that in the jury of the Oscars assignees, there were also Judy Garland and Vincent Minnelli, Liza Minnelli's mother and father!! Anyway, the fact remains that Diana Ross won a Cesar (the French film Oscar) and a Golden Globe. Furthermore, after 60 years of career, Diana Ross continues to perform live in the Arenas around the world while we have lost track of Liza Minnelli, we have not heard anything about her for several years!

Clearly and hands down Streisand sings this song better than anyone. Knowing she couldn’t possibly sing it as good as Streisand, Ross just sang it her own way and it was nicely done. But nobody can top Barbra Streisand.

hI John, nice comment ! Diana Ross is the "unreachable star" , envied by the singers of her generation but admired, mythologized and the inspiring muse of many singers of the latest generations (such as Beyoncé, Rihanna and Taylor Swift) . On Diana Ross, Taylor Swift said: "I don't know any singer who hasn't been influenced by Diana Ross."

@@francorossville7359Gladys had no reason to be envious of Diana because they did not have anything in common, whether it be personal or artistic. Gladys is a gracious, down-to-earth legendary singer. Diana, on the other had, has nothing to pride herself on other than the commercial success that she enjoyed, and even that was brought about through personal relationships, and you know what I mean by that.

Oh please nothing. Mary Wilson finally told the true facts that happened. Oprah saw only Through Diana's version. Florence started this group and it was taken away from her. If this was not the truth. DREAMGIRLS THE STAGE AND THEN THE FILM 🎥 WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN MADE. HISTORY AND THE TRUTH HAD TO BE TOLD AND DOCUMENTED AS IT SHOULD AND WAS.
