I feel sorry for journalists whose first language isn't English. Most do very well, but sometimes nuances get missed and therefore questions come over as rude, or too direct. Madonna did well here, but the journalists were at a disadvantage, which must be acknowledged.

She can't be like this because at the time she was at the top of her game, politically. I don't expect you to understand, but right now, she can't be like that. She has to be careful about what she says and guarded, because frankly she is walking a mined camp not that she means it. Can't tell you the details, but back then in 1998 she was being protected, therefore she could just be herself and out there, which she was. Now she can't, that's why.
