I love how Bindi's husband talked about taking on pressure as a man as a husband and father that God designed them to carry that weight. In my role as a single mother I had the pressure of going out to make a way for my son and myself. I didn't know God and I was so stressed, angry scared and lost a lot of times. It was not my role as a woman to carry that weight and it does damage to a women that takes years to mend. Only God can mend our hearts as single moms. I now understand that I was never meant to be in that situation, it was not designed for me.

Fathers are very important in the home! Sadly generational issues continue to perpetuate the family dynamic. I come from a single parent home however my father was very much in the picture. Only now in my 30s am I realizing how not having a father in the home for emotional support has affected my interactions with men 😔 Great Video topic!

Same here. My parents divorced when I was 6 months old. They lived in separate states. So we saw our dad once a year during the summer for 6 weeks. Though far from perfect, I’m grateful for the time we had together and relationship with my parents. Sadly, both parents had their baggage. Growing up with a physical and emotional abusive, it took time and a LOT of personal work. Understanding that parents are imperfect people, grace, love, forgiveness and respect is a necessary part of healing. We all need these and need to extend them. This does not, however, mean that we are required to keep putting our heads back on the chopping block. Make no mistake, there was plenty of PTSD to work through as well. Praise God for His healing power and for showing me that He is my forever Father, Husband, Protector, Provider, Lover, Counselor, Healer, Lord, Trustworthy Friend and so much more.

I loved this, thank you for sharing. This was so insightful and explanatory as to why unequally yoked relationships don't work, bad company corrupts good character. I'm Christian, a strong believer in Christ, but he was not. I fell short from the grace of God when I got into a relationship with my ex, I was lonely, looking for a man to lead, I was willing to submit but he preferred I led, then began to resent me for it when he began to feel emasculated. He reverted and became very childish and I began to resent him too. Needless to say, we separated because he spiraled into victimhood and used that as an excuse to become domestically abusive. He felt entitled to treat me like absolute garbage, full of threats and evil curses simply because he was hurting. He felt entitled to my entire day when I had homework to do and children to take care of. Giving him 2 hours of my day to genuinly hear him out and try to gently give him assurance wasn't enough, there was always something he wanted to complain about..and if I didn't sit and listen for as long as he desired then that meant "I didn't love him". I was hurting too, but mostly annoyed with the situation. Taking care of our two small children, making appointments, doing all the shopping, working on my college degree while he smoked weed, drank all day and playing video games, complaining anytime he was interrupted. The mask started to slip and the veil began to rise when I realized he fooled me for 3 years and possibly has narcissistic personality disorder, covert type. Stay vigilant ladies, make sure God is #1 in his heart and his fruit is of good character. Thankfully the Lord Jesus snatched me from that situation with His loving hands and blessed my babies and I with our own apartment while also healing my heart and providing insight to my situation. I am very content being a mother in this season of true singleness but I know my babies need a Godly father, I have faith when the time is right and all my sinly quirks are adjusted in Jesus' name, He will provide me with not only a husband but a father for my precious children. God bless you all❤

@@abramthegamingguy9016 Yes Children do need their biological father, however if you're dealing with a father who has the narcissistic personality disorder, then you've to thread carefully. When the relationship is broken down, nothing can be done, esp if you're in a relationship with a narcissist. It gets very difficult to even have basic conversations, thereby making co-parenting extremely difficult. Having a strong fatherly role for your children is important, however involving the biological father is very important.

@@abramthegamingguy9016 When I saw my children scared and unhappy, we had to separate. This is just so exceptional and necessary right now. It's so pure that I want to put it all in a cd box set and separate it from the mess found on YT! I always wonder why at this point in time our government via the school systems have not implemented some type of formal teaching about the roles of mothers/wives and husbands/fathers and the type of commitment along with commitment to growth that is required even if they do so in a context of exploring different cultural perspectives (to keep from being labeled a religious course). It would add, as you mentioned, a model of truth for adolescents to model themselves after. Again, I love this so much!!

What I realised this morning at my bible reading time was, that in the old testament there always is this "xy son of the father" I think it shows the importance of the father for the son and for the hole familiy. The father is always mentioned. I is still important even if the son is an adult and even if he is famous and successfull himself (e.g. Chronik 11, 20)

The beauty of roles. Amen. Very lost ideology and worse the attempt to break those molds when they are in place for a reason . Right , it's okay to have an ideal role, and then sometimes things do shift out of that as all stories are different but doesn't mean that that distinct specialty wasn't right set up for a reason.

This was amazing said and done. I come from a single mom home with some of my sisters being half ( 9 of us in total) and I knew I didn’t want that for my life to be a single mom. I thank God for helping me to stay on the path even though there was times I wanted a relationship but was to scared because of what I saw from around me. I know there are healthy relationships but I see a lot more negative but I know if I pray God could send me a husband but I realize I spent so long being a “mom” growing up I never got a chance to be a child and so now I just want to be a child in a sense, (I still can’t run from the “mom” role though never birthed a child but have taken care of plenty from their birth nieces and nephews and own sisters.) Let God take care of my needs and not worry. I want to be happy only in the Lord and I don’t know if I will every want a relationship but I know my standards and wouldn’t lower them for no one and I know God would send the right person. I also want to say the lack of family has to deal with Hollywood they play a role in how people view relationship. People don’t realize it’s a programming going on. U all said really good points and I pray God keeps u all. I thank God everyday for touching me so I didn’t have to walk the same path like others have. We are separate people indeed.

I'm really getting a lot from this. I became anti-religion because I saw it as very misogynistic and I was waiting for the typical anti-women talking points, but I gave you a chance because you seemed different to the others. The fact that, not only you, but also your husband are not just trying to blame women for everything - and your husband even takes note of the fact that society is prone to blaming women (around the 18 minute mark) - that really made me pause for thought.

I posted some good resources on a comment above asking for the Bible references if you’d be curious to hear more along these lines. ACBC counseling website has great resources too. Expositional preaching is gonna be a term that will get you close to what they’re articulating here. 9 marks is a good resource too.

Wow, you two hit me with the fork in the road. I have had to make that choice. It is a difficult truth to face when you must fully transfer your attention from your Earthly father and choose God as your father specifically because your Earthly father doesn’t uphold all of his responsibilities. I had a moment when God showed me a door to walk through and at the time it was primarily the door to fully choose submission to my husband but it also felt like a door to fully look to Him as my Father, to fill in all the gaps. I am so glad I chose in that moment to walk through that door 💕 Thank you both for this important content 🙏🏻

Thank you for being such a wonderful role model and for putting out excellent content. You are such a beautiful couple inside and out. Everything you pointed out about patterns, etc. are spot on and common to all mankind. We are ALL made in His image. And we all face the same trials, struggles, temptations, shortcomings, etc. May the enemy be bound from sowing seeds of lies that because of the external color of one’s skin these trials are unique to you. All races face trials of the same and many kinds. Ancestral curses and patterns are universal. Praise God, recognizing these, working through them, and doing our personal work as individuals while bathed in prayer and asking God for wisdom, guidance, direction, and help to break these cycles is key. Then allow the process of deliverance, maturity and readiness to complete its work so that we become marriage material ourselves while also obtaining the wisdom, maturity and discernment to recognize potential marriage material for a mate. Be encouraged and ask God to return to you sevenfold what the enemy has robbed.

Hi Bindi, My name is Berhanie. I just found your channel not so long ago and I am so grateful! I am someone who is new to faith and living a Christian life. I am in a situation. I have kids with a person I am not married to. He is a good man and a great father. We live together. He is a believer but doesn’t think about God like things or live the life on the daily. Now we are living together trying to raise a 3 year old and an 18 month old. We are both 26. We have no idea what we are doing. Basically, what do I do? As someone who is trying to seek out God, and do right by these kids what do I do? Should I treat him like my husband because we are living together? I mean I wish we were married. In that case I would look at our problems from a biblical perspective. Could you possibly make a video around this topic? I know you are married and wouldn’t have a personal perspective, but you sound exactly like the woman I would hope to be someday. Thank you so much!

For the Christian if we do not have the right understanding of these role and are walking it out, the world will "Look at the parent" and question the authority and reality of our God. I think we have an even bigger problem now than just dismissing the "husband" role. 3 times at a funeral I went to last week, I heard conversations about how a child's biological father wasn't even a big deal, because the mom had a boyfriend that was filling that role. In all 3 cases, the boyfriend DOES do more than the bio father, but it seems as if the world around each of those kids has pushed the real father out - even if he wanted to be involved. Its like women think that they can daddy shop, if it turns out that they made a bad choice hooking up with the real dad. They will go so far as letting the kid, illegally, illegitimately use the stepdads name out of spite. In 2 out of the 3 cases that I am referencing, the man is only the mom's boyfriend (not even fiance) and could walk out at any minute. All of the people in these conversations just accept that its not necessary to "keep the real dad around". I also see where this totally lets a man off the hook if he does NOT want to take care of his kid. He will just get replaced, easily. I babysit for a girl like this. She got pregnant, married the dad & in a year left him. She immediately took up with a different man, moved her kid & herself in with him & his parents. She failed to divorce the husband for 4 years, and complains that the boyfriend has not proposed to her. They are building a house together and she thinks they are going to move in soon (I don't see it happening that way). She keeps pressuring him to have a kid with her. Meanwhile, her little boy is sooooo confused. He calls the boyfriend 'daddy' and won't talk about his real dad (even tho he is in his life)- He calls him by his first name. He has gotten very attached to the boyfriend & this man could just kick her out & she has actively damaged his relationship with his real dad. She will get mad if the boyfriend won't do extra things for her son & everyone tries to point out that it is NOT his kid. She won't listen to reason. I see a huge amount of trouble with her son in the future.

Would be interested to see your take on how a Christian woman functions with a non-Christian husband. Submitting authority can be very challenging within those gray areas.

Spouse first and children second? That only works when the spouses are mature enough to put the childrens' NEEDS above the adult spouses' WANTS. Example #1 : "John" and "Melinda" were newlyweds. Both agreed that they wanted children. Melinda soon became pregnant. John changed his mind and decidedthat he didn't really want the baby. (It's his; there was no affair on Melinda's part). Then, Melinda developed complications with bleeding and ended up on bed rest. The OB also told her that she would not be able to have sexual intercourse for the time being, as she was at risk for miscarriage and was considered to be having a high risk pregnancy. Melinda explained all this to John, who refused to speak with the OB doctor and became very resentful that Melinda (1) respectfully and gently told him that they would need to wait until after the baby was born to have sex again and (2) wasn't doing as much around the house because the doctor put her on bed rest. John with his "I'm head of the household so submit to me" mentality was beside himself, exploding that he wasn't getting as much sex as most newlyweds. Melinda put her baby's needs first, over her husband's wants. She was not willing to consider abortion, nor would she engage in sexual activities that would have increased the risk of miscarriage. She delivered a beautiful baby boy, who has been an incredible source of joy to her and others around her. John abandoned them both, before the baby was even born. How do I know this? Because I am Melinda. I don't put my real name out there because I don't want my young one to ever think he is to blame for what happened. He isn't. But I also don't think it's right to make young women out there (or young men for that matter) think they should please another grown person at the cost of harming a child who is depending on the adults around them to keep them safe and make them feel loved and valued. John knew scripture. He knew better. He just chose to behave carnally. There is no morally acceptable way to put a grown person's wants above a vulnerable child's needs. It is reasonable and in fact proper to put a spouse's needs over a child's wants. It is not reasonable to put a spouse's wants over a child's needs. Spouse wants to go hang out with friends spending the money that was set aside to buy the childrens' school supplies, with no realistic way of replacing that money ? Absolutely not. NO. Spouse wants to have a once a week family time and prayer session that conflicts with somebody's favorite TV program? That's an example of a NEED (family time/prayer time) that should overrule a want (want to be entertained). Spouse wants to take teen son's college fund -money the teen saved up over a few summers by working - to pay some of Grandma's medical bills. NO. Children are not responsible for the financial support of adults. Teens need to be allowed to acquire the education and training they will need to support their own families. Spouse may want to look like the hero rushing to Grandma's rescue and they're mad that the other spouse is blocking this, but it is not the responsibility of a 17 year old to pay for an adult's medical care. It is not right for that teen to be robbed of their college money that they worked for and have been saving for years. These are just a few examples of how I've seen conflict in a marriage because one spouse feels entitled to the support of the spouse to do something the other spouse sees as bad for the kids. It won't go away just by using the "Give me my way because I'm the spouse" or "Give me my way because I'm the man and you have to submit to me" mentality, because not everyone is willing to harm their children to please their spouse. And when they are, the damage it does to their children may take an act of God to repair. We need to distinguish between wants versus needs, not just make a blanket statement that what spouse wants to do always comes before children.

Wow, how evil is that that John couldn't understand that having sex could result in the baby dying and you couldn't move around as much for your own health...or is it that he did understand, but didn't care? These Christian men want sex so much, not much different from men who don't walk in Christ, what is the difference at that point? They are just carnal men filled with lust. How terrible an experience that was for you. Thank you for sharing your story.

Lovely video! However I must say Bindi you have to give working mothers and wives like myself who dont want to stay at home and are educated a break. I married a wonderful man from Africa and we both enjoy working as well as well as raising our kids. So not all Black Women are lost. In fact its smart for our daughters to get an education early as my Father (in real life) taught me.
