Love this series. Wish updates were more frequent but understand why they are not. Love the look of the tanks. I can tell you though from having a baby miniatus grouper that fish absolutely will not coexist with any fish in such a small area. If this was a big tank maybe. I had one in a predator tank and one day I came home and he was the only fish I saw. He did not eat them but they would not swim in the open with him there. My trigger was even scared of him. It is one of the prettiest fish but might need a tank to himself.

Awesome episode. BRS TV gets better and better every season. Well done. I've been reefing for about 30 years (with the same 150 lbs of fiji, marshall island, vanatau live rocks.) but I still learn new things from you guys. I love your experiments. Bravo.

Great content idea. I don’t think anyone else has done something like this to review and report through the various practices for the people so thoroughly. Really nice work, and demo!

I still have Fiji and Tonga live rock from 20 years ago in the hobby when most of this information and technology just weren't available. It's the best decision I've ever made keeping something that's came from a biome we try to maintain in a closed environment.

Octopus nano would be incredible, but iirc- *well kept* octopus only last a couple years usually right? Also I can't imagine how wicked of an escape artist an octopus in a tank would be lol

Really enjoyed this series. The grouper as stunning as his color is will wreck havoc in the predator tank. They’ll easily decimate most fish you introduce in there.

Apollo is instantly one of my favorite fish. I'm eager to see how well you can make the Chromis shelter, so they can sustain their numbers. It's a fascinating premise for a tank!

Curious, where do you collect the sand from the ocean? Just go out a bit ways into the water from a beach? I'm in Houston too, so I assume you are going to Galveston.

That grouper tank is going to be a disaster. I have had a miniatus, he was in with 30 chromis and tangs. He killed everything bar the ones I saved within about a week. Nastiest fish out there. They have huge territories in the ocean and don't manage their anger well in a tank. My miniatus took on tangs twice his size and won. Those chromis being introduced last will be a huge mistake - they will just be viewed as food. You'll have to add like 50 just for 10 to make it in to the rocks. They won't come out, they never did when I had that combination.

I have had 2. The first one was only mean to my blue line grouper. My second one got picked on by my blue line 😂. All depends on the stocking and what you add with them.

Your learned adjustments are what 'natural' reefkeepers use to keep theirs. I never used a skimmer, had a refugium of algae, a deep sand bed and never disturbed the sand except the ugly half-inch surface...

Did BRS buy TBS? For years, Ryan has warned against the issues and unwanted pests that come with using ocean rock. I’m confused!

You said you thought the tangs in those tanks prevented algae problems. My question is did you feed them nori, if so how much?

Not sure I understand how you plan to keep Chromis with the Grouper. In fact I question why you would even try it knowing the risk before hand. Seems irresponsible to me with your experience. Also if you are using Kessil a360x throw on the wifi dongle and use the Apex iota integration... All the best to you and your team.

PLease show the PAR data of the successful tanks. you'll post about all the biome stuff, which is amazing yes. But some people need/want to know what the PAR data is for things like the SPS and Clams.

Hello, I’ve subscribed to your channel, and to many other channels about reef aquariums, I’m from Ukraine, you know what’s going on here, the war, but we have a lot of beginner aquarists who are in a difficult situation, I’ve already written to many, but not alone and didn’t respond, I understand that no one wants to help, my friends and I found ourselves in a difficult time. It’s a shame to reach out, but still, maybe you can help with something, even a bag of salt, it will be a joy for our aquariums.
