Hey there. Thanks for making this video and reviewing the mask I made. And thank you for critiquing it. I was unable to get a good side view of the mask up until you showed me the image in your video. Now that I have that I will be able to make a more accurate version of the mask. When I do I hope that you will review it like you have in this one. Until then I would like to use your video on the shapeways page so others can get a good idea of how it looks and what the material looks like. I will be putting up a video about how to smooth the masks and get them looking much better. People are still experimenting with what gold looks most like TLG's. I really wish leg would have released the MoUP in like a promotional bag or something. It really sucks that G2's cancellation made it so they couldn't at least let us have the 3 masks. And the mask's design to the best out of all the g2 masks This whole thing does show how passionate the bionicle community is, and I do bet Lego was so happy to see everyone come together to make this mask a reality

Great video! God, I love Bionicle. Going to miss it (again). Loved your speech sort of thing at the end. Can't wait for your more indepth video on how you built your Makuta! Planning on building mine as soon as i can get the money together for the sets i'm missing from G2.

I like to think you can't pop off the mask simply because it consumes the toa that wears it. As if the toa themselves cannot remove it without great force. Remember the early enemies of the toa (despite not having the pop off feature for them back then), where known to leap out and latch onto the toa to control them; so the mask that made Makuta who he is, likely does the same :D

I guess that if you wanted to paint it gold (one that matches the gold coloured plastic Lego uses), you would need a flat caramel-brown coloured paint, and then seal it with a clear gloss coat.

I ordered the Titan scaled version too, but in polished white, and I painted it in glossy black acrylic paint.

That part about the community at the end gave me chills; it's so true. Also, I don't think it would warrant it's own video, but I'd like to see the JtO Makuta next to other titans (especially G1 Makuta Teridax and Toa Mata Nui). Maybe you could show that in the Toa Mata Nui review, the G1 Makuta Teridax review, or, if you get it, the video for the white MoUP (or if a more accurate version is released, in the video for that). Great video, as always!

maybe part of the reason of why it's the mask of ultimate power is that it lacks one of the main weaknesses that all other masks have in this gen, the pop off thing, meaning it's much harder to defeat him in play

The printed masks look pretty amazing. I think when I do, I'll get them in the same material as your titan scale mask. I'd like to see how both look on my JtO version of Makuta.

The texture and weird light borders of the black acryllic mask makes it look like it's taken straight from JTO thanks to the strange cel-shade feeling it gives off

My option for this is difficult. I prefer to get the titan scale in black and the villager scale in white, so then I'll color it in gold paint the villager scale. So I have the titan scale for the titan combiner and the other just like any other mask like Ekimu and Makuta. Yep this is very difficult for my collection, hope this option will help me

I don't know if it's just me but i feel that if cyber hand made a mid sized mask that's in the middle between the viliger scale and Titan scale that would be the perfect one.

If you want the eyes to pop a bit you could do it in the beast head with the eye stock you have

Hit the Villager scale with 2000 grit sandpaper to get rid of the film ^^ I actually bought a full Nuva Cube + the 6 emblems in dull coloration last week.

I think the prototype jaw piece hugs the chin of the "skull".

Can you do a how to on the hammer? Although I do think I understand how it's built, I want to be sure.

If you really want the original bionicle black colour, you could make a mold of the mask and then melt some other black lego plastic things and cast

I think I'm going to get the Titan Scale since my Makuta G2 Shadow Version is about as big as a G1 BIONICLE Titan Set.

Is it possible for you to say something about how many parts from each of the sets that make the Makuta combiner up is actually needed? For instance I imagine that there are relatively few parts from, for instance, uniter Onua in this model, so it might be better to buy the parts needed separatly instead of buying an entire Onua. With other sets that make up this model, that contribute with more of their pieces, it may be just as well to just buy the entire set?

Very informative, I'm not sure if I'll get it now but maybe in the future. 11:10 Just a question about the G1 lore, as I couldn't find a proper answer: Does the Mask of Shadows have two faces? I thought the flipped up version was a representation of Takutanuva, when Takanuva combines with Makuta. It even has the mouth-like ares of the Avohkii.

So I'm thinking about getting one of these mask for my Makuta moc and I'm not sure which one to get. MY makuta is roughly the size of Umarak the hunter probably a little taller. So i'm not sure which one would look better. EDIT: I've decided to get the villager sized mask.

Has anyone figured out a good paint blend for the MoUP? I've painted mine a yellow ochre, and while it's an alright flat color, it doesn't shine as well as I want it to.

I would paint it. I know it is expensive so maybe do some practices on random pieces of plastic or other masks first if you haven't done it before. If you look at the images of the prototype, the gold isn't the same as the one Lego normally uses anyway. I dunno, your choice.
