I had a tiring yet a very fruitful and joyous trip to the famous forests in and around the Thattekadu bird sanctuary. In video:
1) White bellied woodpecker: What a beautiful big bird this is. The guide showed this bird through the car itself.
2) Blue eared kingfisher: One of my dream birds, we had to walk through some dense areas of forest along a stream to spot this beauty.
3) Sri lanka frogmouth: The guide casually showed us this bird roosting in the day on a branch. The ease at which we could see this bird seemed quite anti-climatic. But we would not have seen it without him.
4) A heart spotted woodpecker looking for food, it's mate was quite nearby.
5) Indian flying lizard: A creature I had been longing to see. Got to see it glide from tree to tree as well.
6) A lesser yellownape foraging high up a canopy. It's mate was on another tree top.
