The goal of this song was to encourage empathy for individuals in a suicidal state of mind , not necessarily promote suicide. ♥️

Best thing to do for someone that is depressed and thinking of suicide is just to listen to them and be there for them!

The biggest problem I had when I was opening up about my mental health was. Everyone made me feel I was wrong for having these feelings. That these feelings were selfish to have. That I needed to suck it up and not let my emotions control me. These thoughts don’t just magically go away by ignoring them or pretending they’re not there. I don’t take this song as Jake promoting suicide. But sending out comfort to those in that state of mind to tell them that it’s not selfish to feel that way. And that it’s okay to not be okay. I don’t know if you know this but Jake (the singer of Citizen soldier) is a practicing clinical therapist. He’s very open about his personal struggles with mental health and loves to support others through theirs he’s found his music as a way to do so. Jake himself has attempted and while he was in the psych ward wrote his first song Let it Burn. Now he not only sits down and helps people one on one with their struggles he puts down in words through songs what so many people feel and let’s them know they’re not alone and it’s okay to not be okay.

6:09 I completely agree. I myself struggle with depression and suicidal ideation but my father also commuted suicide so I kind of can see both perspectives and honestly yeah. Parents need to think of their kids because in cases like mine when they can’t or don’t now my whole life is affected. I visit a grave to see my father, I never got one father daughter dance, I barley remember him, Father’s Day is difficult, it eats at my everyday life I cannot go a day without remembering my biological father is dead and he chose to die. I myself have contemplated suicide but stayed because of my sisters and mother. I couldn’t imagine making my mom who already lost my dad lose me to and I want to see my sisters grow up. I know it may sound selfish or rude to say but people have to think outside themselves in those moments. It’s so easy to sit by yourself and let your own mind take over but people have got to think of the people around them to. There is such a ripple affect from suicide and it may be easy to think “they can make it without me, they don’t need me, etc” but that’s not true. Suicide breaks people, ruins families, and leads to other suicides. Life sucks and most of the time it’s bad (in my case) but I would go through everything I’ve gone through over again and if it meant that I never made my loved ones feel how my dads suicide made me feel. No matter who you are you have someone whether it’s a person, pet, etc you have someone and that’s what matters

The key point to me about the song is it’s not necessarily justifying suicide so much as making the point that the person is also the victim. Too often it feels like some people just treat people who commit suicide as selifsh or cowards which at least for me leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They aren’t either of those things. They are a victim who couldn’t take it any more and should be viewed as such rather than being blamed or condemned for just wanting the pain to stop. No that doesn’t make it the right choice, it’s always better if they can get the help to pull them back from that edge. But it’s just also important to have some remorse for those who didn’t get that help.

I couldn’t listen, so I leave the thumbs up for others. I’ve lost Family and Friends, and attended a few military Funerals for others. Just the first couple lines hit in a place I don’t talk about often. If anyone ever needs anything, reach out. They do help

My only advice to some one with suicide is my own personal.experince with it and all I can say is "wallowing won't help you. And honestly no is going to care about you as much as your going to have to in order to get your self out of this funk, because no matter what I say or what I do it's not going to change how you feel, not really, only you can do that. It's your mind inside of your body and you DO have control over it.... it's all on you no one can save you from the suffering and torture your ultimately inflicting on your self. Improve your life and if at the end of the day you decide to be a weak little bitch and end it all then you've got bigger stones then me. Salute
