Historical fiction written by a poet will always make me pick up a book too. I love the cover of The Fall of the House of Byron! Looks so good

Happy Birthday and The Manningtree Witches is sublime. Fantastic historical fiction and you can tell it is written by a poet as the prose is beautiful.

Happy Birthday! I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about The Fall of the House of Byron because it's on my TBR. I think you'll love The Manningtree Witches - it's really different to any other witch trial historical novel I've read, and I've read quite a few. It's really visceral - you can smell and taste everything.

Have you read The King's Witch by Tracy Borman? It's historical fiction that begins in 1603 and I think you'd really like it!

I always suggest thinking about your favourite themes and finding a 19thC read that fits the bill! My favourite writers are Elizabeth Gaskell, the Bronte sisters & Thomas Hardy.
