Hi longtime KR vet. The reason you can’t join factions is KR is reliant on scripting and events for all their factions (Italy joins the 3rd Internationale, for instance, by a French decision that can only fire during the 2WK or after a successful reunification).

Kaiserreich is way less concerned with the HOI sandbox and is designed in such a way that it’s closer to a narrative direction than a gameplay one. Also the KR devs think vanilla HOI’s mechanics are a bit silly and OP. For instance, you can’t justify war goals or guarantee countries until the 2WK starts.

@@Bob-fh4ht People start to care about the boring countries when the devs make them interesting. Kaiserreich Haiti is basically the opposite of this. They teased its existence almost 4 years ago and the end was a country with ZERO expansion on ANY path.

I had 1 game (with no division limiter, you can remove it from the game settings) as Sardinia, finally winning with the new focus tree and tank conversion bug. To core all of Italy and actually finish the focus tree, I had to play until 1951, "all adult serve" for much of the time, and dropping some 50 nukes on Germany (two Sicilies in the Reichspact) and I don't know how many more on Russia (northern Italy joined their faction...) to finally win. I don't know if it's the total value, but there were roughly 70M deaths on all fronts in the war, I had about 2.5M death using only tanks for the last 5 years of the war. A colossal pain. Now I can uninstall Keiserrech 😂

You know, I really liked that "Papal news" bit in the video. Funny thing is the beginnings of journalism as we know it is traced back to the Papacy. The "Advisio" or something newsletters that they'd put out covering recent events and concerns and mass distribute. Kind of interesting history really. Well I find it so.

If you truly want to have some fun: play liangguang and go the li zongren route. I had to fight 4 cliques at once and one division template is non editable which was half of my army. But Li stood firm and his steel army eventually defeated the barbarians of sichuan yunnan hunan and ma.

I usually just make the division limit AI only, unless you're looking for a huge challenge it's mainly there to keep your computer from turning into a dumpster fire.

I've actually played as the Papal State a few days ago and when the Italian Civil War kicked off without me and Two Sicilies and Italian Federation were swallowed up by the Socialist Republic of Italy, I only had around 10-13 Division with my Roman army (I choose Stephen X and went the secular route) I managed to blitz the hell out of the SRI to kick them out of Southern Italy and Sicily (Two Siciies were annexed by this point) only to reach the outside of Turin, only for them to join the Third Internationle. The coward Socialist had to rely on Commune of France and Union of Britain to defeat a 10-13 Division Roman Republic that couldn't gain any land from the SRI

I once did a run we’re it got to 52 as the Papal States and got all the territory of the Roman Empire but no button press so I was really Sade after yes I got the uk there’s just no decision for it in Kaiserriech but it was fine
