What the song is trying to say, well in my perspective, most people nowadays try to act like an ideal person based on majority to gain favor and please people around you, while avoiding your real thoughts. We try to act like this fake person who just agrees based on what the majority likes even if deep inside us we know that we have a different opinion about the matter, and we do it all for the sake of good appearance. Song also mentioned about not being able to act like a child and implies we've lost the traits like our straightforwardness and honesty when we were young and at the end it implies that this is how you become an adult, a Bitter Choco Decoration, something that only pleases others for the sake of its appearance and has lost its sweet taste.

My theory is that the guy in the orange is sacrificing his individuality to blend in essentially and not to bother anyone. He blends in, not being anything special in any way. And by the end, he becomes no one.

The protag is wearing what looks to me like a prison uniform and seeing as how the song talks about what the protag can and cannot be as a person, my theory is that all of this represents the protag feeling trapped and imprisoned by the ideas and expectations society has on them. Maybe the person in the dress is a representation of society and the plates/cutlery/food is the expectations that are being fed to the protag. But that's just a theory.

I interpretate this song as a telling of the way adults teach kids to always sit still and do as they're told and behave. The song mentions about stopping a "picky eating habit", which is a really common thing to see on kids. Through the MV see the orange kid "eat it all and not say a word", and it ends up with him saying "I've finally grown up, mama", because now he understand how to shove everything down, like adults do.

Fairly sure the doors at 2:10 are actually the lobby of a love hotel, and also around 2:45 you can see flashes of the main character in a VR headset. Something tells me the ending of this is more about a boy losing innocence in an attempt to become an adult to be given praise from an older woman (groomer), but that's just my interpretation. Lines like "no often means yes" and "considering this is your first time, you have a nack for this" while she's caressing him, idk just makes me think there's darker sexual subtext to this.

I have a little theory that goes with my personal experience. The few theories I read were mostly on the subject of the "adult" mentality and the hypocrisy it brings. However for some people (since childhood) the fact of lying with beautiful words, of not saying no on something that we don't like and of making sure that the person in front of us is never upset and linked to the fear of abandonment and of losing everything if we do something that doesn't go in the direction of a person and it becomes literally a habit or even a philosopher that we impose on ourselves. Putting others before ourselves, or even totally forgetting ourselves. I don't really know if that's what this music was about, but it made me think about it.

this is about changing yourself to be a shell, such that no one can question you solely living for the purpose of pleasing others. 1:05 to me symbolizes, the thoughts we have but we leave unsaid only to not cause problems even over such a small thing like asking someone if you've met before.. 1:13 "and to not talk about myself so that people wont know too much about me" reflects the isolation of ones self to make life easier, so that you don't get caught up in problems. continuing on to 1:19 reinforcing the idea of pleasing others "but i also musnt keep my mouth completey shut, and being laughed at than making people laugh" meaning, it almost seems there no winning.. you try to be quiet but being quiet is not a way to win either. ultimately the only way to "win" or "grow up" is to live to please others and completely rip your personality apart. "at times that lonely love would taint you" i feel like this part of the song it delving more into adult relationships possibly within the working environment, the "love" you share is often only for the purpose of pleasing others, leaving you feeling empty and tainted, having to give up that pure honest part of yourself. i dont think this song is about grooming at all but rather the expectations of the "adult world" and not being able to live in it without accepting these parts of it, completely changing yourself and losing a lot of joy... especially in japan where respect is such a huge thing nothing like what it is in america.. in 1:55 it goes on to say "I had such grand ideas at the beginning.. always talking big but now no often means yes. " again, showing the ridiculousness of what is it to be considered mature. its taught to us that we need to put other above ourselves when kind things are given to us, we reject to be humble, when compliments are given to us we reject to be humble and adult like. in 2:37 " i long for the ideal that everyone wishes for" going along with the theme of fitting in and being adult like this most likely means living life for the purpose of getting money, going to college etc etc, again throwing away your personality and wishes ultimately to please others or fit in. the later line "i reduce my individuality and my emotions to ashes" supporting my earlier statement, i like to believe the figure in the video IS him mom literally. he does call her mama at the end.. i think its just about him trying to live up to what his mom wants, blending into the masses.. "kill your desires and ego, and bury them all underground" ALSO: there is a lot of symbolism in this music video. while he is spinning on top of the plate, i think it reflects how vulnerable children are if they dont "grow up" youre going to be "eaten" if you dont live up to certain standards and apply a mental barrier.. just as he is being "fed" these expectations being forced to adapt and change. "just eat it all and dont say a word" 0:50 "you gotta fix your picky eating habits" could be taken literally, as a part of growing up but also as a metaphor for obeying and not questioning what youre being told. To not have a mind of your own and just do as your told. and this is just me digging in even further but, the color orange often represents youth, to be energetic, happy and spontaneous.. the protagonist is seen orange in color most of the video. however, at the the color shifts to a turquoise, when he has "finally grown up" at 2:53.. turquoise often symbolized wisdom. in the mv the turquoise color seems to represent the expectations/ knowledge hes being fed.

What really makes this song amazing is it's careful ambiguity, there are so many different interpretations. This means more people can form their own thoughts on it.

I'm confused why nobody mentions how it isn't society in general that is trapping him, but it seems to be his mother especially who is forcing her expectations on him. It also seems to be... some other abuse involved, considering the "first time" talk and the keys like in a hotel. My guess towards it's interpretation goes towards an abusive mother, and that he is trapped because he can't escape her specifically. I think another hint that not society in general is the issue here is the very last two sentences, where the other guy talks about him "being super serious", meaning he was still out of the ordinary.

Notice that he is at a dinner table, being served meals by this woman. He's in an orange jumpsuit, as if he is a prisoner at this table. The lyrics talk of manners and keeping up a facade to please others. Think of it like you're sitting at a banquet and while you're there, don't forget to smile and throw jokes here and there. Don't forget to wipe your mouth and finish your food. That's exactly what he's doing. 1:32 Especially in this part, where everything is feeling like a mess. Here, he's seen finishing his food and gulping down the wine but hunching over in the end. I may be three years late but here’s my theory. As most people can tell it’s about a guy who’s trapped in his mindset of being perfect for people around him, I think the woman behind him is his mother but she’s dead as when people die they have a white cloth to cover their faces it’ll also make sense since it says “let me keep the feelings I had when I was but a child” which could refer to when he was a happy child but when his mother died he had to grow up which explains “I’ve finally grown up, mama” but his idea of being grown is suppressing his feeling and acting mature. When the music drops is when he finally snapped and couldn’t suppress his emotions anymore which I believe the rooms being symbolized as his feeling being released and that’s why it turns from red to green, he also cries from all the pain he held in from when he lost her, and the guy you see at the end is the real him talking to his past self “Ooh, I remember now! You’re that serious-looking person from back then” and that’s why he’s wearing all green because he doesn’t hold back his emotions anymore but the years of emotions he held in make him emotionally unstable “But I gotta make sure not to go insane”

My personal view on the meaning of the song would be how society is making us adopt that ''persona'' of an ideal person, that is pleasant to everyone and maintains a good image ''outside decoration'', while keeping all the bitter feelings inside, until we get sick of ourselves. This is something I personally experienced in my workplace, after literally being advised to ''smile and be enthusiastic about everything and never share your negative thoughts or disagree''. Couldn't do that so that's that. The prisoner's outfit could mean that this person is stuck to this state of mind/expectations, and the lady that appears to ''keep feeding him'' these ideals is his ''mom''-society that have met before, probably in his childhood?
