One of the best facts about wombats that was missed is that they hide from predators by blocking the entrance to their burrows with their especially hard butts

After years of extensive research that primarily consisted of me stalking you and taking down notes of your every move, I have concluded that your poop is cubical because you have made a symbiotic relationship with the not yet found cubic worm that has replaced your rectum. You provide the worm water and it provides you "Cube-shaped fertilizer blocks: portable and easy to plant" that you sell on your etsy shop. Either it's because of that or it's the protein+ supplements you've been taking. I'll return in about 3 months with science-backed proof.

It's easy to get hung up on the why of evolution because there's so much of it but the fact is there doesn't necessarily need to be a good reason for every trait to evolve. The square poops could be a curious byproduct of another adaptation like squeezing more moisture out of a turd, and that's all there is to it.
@austinshoupe3003
@austinshoupe3003 3 жыл бұрын
Sort of. If it was a byproduct of that process, it would be on the table of reasons why. But plenty of other animals accomplish the same task without square poops. Square poops are super weird. Biology doesn't like corners. It's possible it's just like that, but it wouldn't be a trait that propagates across a species. That requires some sort of evolutionary pressure.

yeah that makes sense. changes in the DNA that happen at complete random yet exist in 100% of the population don't need any particular reason. Just all the ones that didn't have it died without reproducing. Totally scientific.

As someone working in pest control, cubic to preserve moisture makes sense. Termites do this too, making their frass easily identifiable. Which is strange they never mentioned that in claiming wombats are the only one.

i would propose the reason why we are bipeds is very obvious and straightforward, it's hard to carry and use a tool moving on all 4s. so moving only with the lower limbs freeing the top ones to carry a spear or any other tool would be a huge boon and wish.
