I think it was just age, Edgar was on top of his game and was able to fight better the next time around, while BJ wasn’t.

It was close. I wouldn't say he got robbed in that fight. Could've gone either way. Edgar a bit more active. That won him so many close fights.

Nobody had a worse fall than Tony Ferguson. Tony never even got the opportunity to fight for the belt. Bad luck after cancelled fight after devastating knee injury. BJ still achieved greatness and is top 10 goat in his prime.

That leg break fight doesn't really count as Poirier didn't win it on merit. Outside of that, Conor would have to lose 6-7 more fights IN A ROW to even be thought of in the same league as BJ.

Honestly he could’ve still been elite, but losing to Edgar derailed him, he never fought in LW after there rematch and that’s where things went down hill penn is not a Welterweight nor a featherweight, him moving weight classes and not fighting his way back to the belt costs him his career

Renan Barao had the worst downfall in UFC he was ranked number one pound per pound at the time then he lost his title and went directly on a 6 fight losing streak to retirement within three years

@@ddanielbragg88 nah he still beat sandhagen clean, and with the stylistic match up between them that was a seriously difficult fight. He only lost to aljo because of his shoulder issues. I wouldn’t say he fell off. Barao however couldn’t buy a win after he quit steroids, can only assume his body never recovered to natural production

⁠​⁠@@chentz2d552tony has schizophrenia and he’s had it since birth and only got worse after he won the ultimate fighter his decline started because of his mental state and the medication he was taking he took it just before the cowboy fight because he had a mental breakdown in the octagon during the Pettis fight and he still takes it and tony is a people’s champ he ended RDA’s prime and should have gotten a title shot after agains Eddie Alvarez he won the interim belt against Kevin lee when the title should have been vacant just like when khabib fought Al for the title he prepared for khabib for years just for him to get fluid in his lungs destroy his knee and khabib to miss weight to get sick and lock down to happen as a matter of fact tony should have fought for the belt when khabib pulled out or missed weight or when Covid happened against geathje just like how khabib fought for the title when tony pulled out 12 fight win streak but his 9th fight should have been a title shot and his 8th should have been a title eliminator against rda or an interim belt

BJ was a warrior that's why. He took anyone and everyone . Dont forget he fought Machida too, and did very well. All that is going to add up. He basically fought for the sake of fighting, as opposed to say a guy like Mayweather who is strategic on his career.

Folks aren't considering that he likely is dealing with CTE. It's been reported for many Athletes (NFL) that they get very violent after or during their career after suffering a concussion. Anthony Brown is a famous example that's in the making.

He won the 170lbs strap when he was a true lightweight, the only reason he didn’t hold both belts simultaneously because they didn’t have a lightweight division at the time. I trained under him in Hilo for 2 years. The dude can scrap. He deserves his hall of fame status. But fighting is like any other sport, it evolves and the older you get the harder it is. He should have walked but you can’t hate the man for going untill the end. He is still the first ever mma champion to win 2 weight classes and the first American to win the BJJ world championship.

Anderson Silva fell hard too. He was considered the very best by many for a long time. He only had one win in his last nine fights and a failed drug test. Tony Ferguson is still falling. I'm a fan of all three of these guys, i hate to see it. I hope Tony gets a good win and retires.

I to this day strongly believe that bj was on serious steroids and GEAR, but he went around accusing others of it. karma is a b.... I guess when he stopped the steroids, there was nothing to hold up the chin, and that fake jiu-jitsu black belt he got after a year of training. Couldn't do squat on the ground.
