Bjørn, microwave in EV hilarious! Good humor ! This car is interesting mixture. Cons: Expensive. Exceptionally low range. Very slow charging. Pros: Nice solutions inside, stylish, nice screens and imputs - Chromecast, HDMI They packed it with so much stuff making it very expensive with so much toys inside and also hard to use and drive. At least in Europe. Especially in winter... Edit: 1000km challenge would take ? 22h? 🤣

well the car really isn't designed for longer roadtrips. But nice small car for the city. I imagine it is a lot of fun to drive it in the city, so maybe as a 2nd car. We have two cars right now, our big car is mostly used by my father when he is working, and the rest of the family uses the smaller car for shopping or visiting friends in the area. (my father often has to drive far because he works for different companies, so an EV was no option for that back when we got our car, hopefully next one will be a Tesla, maybe model Y once giga berlin is producing.)

Coming back to this old video just to post this, Nikkei (Japanese ver) did an analysis of the hardware of the Honda E. The drivetrain (the integrated motor, reduction gearbox and power control unit) hardware was lifted straight out of the PHEV/E:HEV (ie. Clarity and Civic Hybrid) models, hence likely not optimised for sustained highspeed travel, so that explains why it has so much loss at high speed, as well as why Honda tactically made it a 'city car'. The effort went more into chassis optimisation and design, as Honda's proper in-house, ground-up EV platform will only be ready in 2025. That's said it seems this entire RWD transitional EV platform is already shelved.

Don't really understand why these many comments regarding range. Honda openly stated this is an urban car. I live close to edge of London, travel 40 miles to work and back. This is ideal. Went to rest drive one of this recently, the quality and design is way above normal Honda standard, the compact size and cameras, it is designed to drive on tight spaces. Park on tight spots with ease. Ride quality and balance is top notch. Even Rear view mirror is glazed so you won't get blinded by spot light form behind. In 30 minutes of 20 -50mph I used only 5 miles of range because regeneration charge. It is so much, much better than a certain brand with £47 grand starting price in UK. If you want best battery and range, then suffer the quality and cost.... Unless you can afford Volvo Pulestar

Hey Bjoern, deactivating the one pedal driving with the autopilot is done with good reason: When you are on the Highway and stop the autopilot, for example, with one pedal driving on, it would go into full recuperation and basicly step on the brake pedal. See the i3 as a bad example. Thats why they did it, I like it. But they could actually give us an option in the menu to turn this on or off.

This Honda looks 1000 times better inside and outside and offer a tad better range. Its good enough for small trips, i don't see the big issue here. According to the brochure, fitting the narrower 16 inch wheels instead of the 17 inch wheels to the Honda e Advance increases the WLTP Combined rating from 131 to 137 miles. Not a massive difference, but a welcome difference when the range is that short! It also states the efficiency is 17.2 kWh/100km (17.8 for the 17" wheels), which works out at 115 miles if 32kWh is available, or only 101 miles if only 28kWh is usable.

we´re conditioned on looking to the left and right... also cars look kinda weird without mirrors... i still can´t get over the looks of the mirrorless MAN space could be an issue as well, because monitors need to have a decent size so you can easily see lots of details within a few miliseconds... no problem in a Tesla, there´s not much in there ;)

@@gery4870 For sure if you need to fast charge at all for any reasonable proportion of your driving then the e-208 makes total sense. I feel like its gonna attract the same sort of buyer as a fiat 500e where they want the style and don't drive far.

I like this car. Unfortunately even for second car it has exceptionally low range for the price. It's not 2010 when battery cells were expensive. Could be a good start for Honda. Maybe next time...

All the negative comments make me think the price will go down very quickly. I am all for this as all I need is a city car I can charge at night from my house. I have a gas hog for the rest. Vroom Vroom.

If this had faster charging or at least a flatter curve it would be totally fine. Although I'm going by their advertised numbers. It looked like in one video you lost like 15-20km range for using the HVAC... like come on. That's more than 10% of total range. And 80% looked more like 150km range not 200km so I'm confused by real world numbers compared to advertised.

This is the kind of thing that puts people off ev's. Thats about a 6 hour drive in any fossil car - even one under 10k eur. There needs to be two kinds of ev - one thats got big batteries and fast charging for regular long range use and one that has a small battery and a range extender for mostly short run use.

"Thats about a 6 hour drive in any fossil car" That means you drive an average of 166 KMH. What is wrong with you? If you average 100kmh and take two 1-hour breaks, that's already 12 hours. If you don't take breaks you're either superhuman or irresponsible, but you're not going to be faster than 8 hours anyway.

Do you just want to complain even when not justified. Complaining not to have distance to destination in navi, accidently entering the menu for activating it and quickly exiting again completely ignoring whats right there on the screen. Even 2 times - distance and elevation. Garmins worked like that for ever
