Cheers Paul. I think you're right, printing is an art in itself, and I'm very much learning. It's funny, in the video, the initial print on the Baryta doesn't look all that dark, but I think it's because I've got my bright video lights shining on it. It looks a bit muddy in regular lighting. Defo recommend this little printer for the money. At some point I'll move up to something that can do A2, but I've been more than happy with this so far. Thanks for watching mate. 😊

Cheers Jeremy - if you're ever thinking of getting one - the XP-970 is definitely good value. It's hard to say with the ink as I always forget to monitor it before and after. I've had the current cartridges in for about 6 months and I'd say on average I do about 2-3 prints a month. I think most of the cartridges are still about 3/4 full.

Hi Peter, it depends on what paper you use. If you choose the paper type as the one that most closely matches your paper, you will get decent results by letting your computer manage the colour settings. I always choose the best quality setting I can. On your computer, choose 360ppi as the resolution. I would definitely recommend getting ICC profiles for your paper though. I bought both the Fotospeed NST315 and the Canson Photographique II from Fotospeed and they have a service on their website to create the profiles for you.

@@PokiLee There is a rear paper feed where you could insert a longer sheet, but I don't think there's a way to tell it to print something bigger than the height of an A3 sheet.

Hi there. It''s very hard to know without seeing the details of your setup, as it could be caused by a number of factors. Are you using Epson inks? Do they have sufficient ink in them? Are you converting your image to black and white first, or printing a colour image with black and white settings? Are you selecting to print in grey scale in your print settings? Also what is the brand and type of paper you're using? Hopefully some of these questions can start a journey towards the right answer!

I use Epson inks, the ink is at a sufficient level, the picture is photographed in black and white, I choose to print in gray tones (I also tried with color), I am currently using HARMAN Hahnemuhle fine art paper (matt cotton smooth / matt cotton textured), but the blue and green tones have also been on other fine art papers. In the settings, I choose Fine Art velvet paper (I also tried matt premium)

@@tomsar1415 So if I'm understanding you right, the image was captured in camera as black and white? Do you know if your image file is RGB mode or gray-scale? If it's RGB, then converting to gray-scale may help. You can use Photoshop for this, if you have it.

No, it uses the Epson Elephant cartridges which are not refillable. I believe you can get third party refillable kits, but I wouldn't recommend it.

It's still working great for me Steven. I don't think there's a better option at this price. 😊

@@Robert-Bishop I have a canon PIXMA mx925 ATM was wanting a A3 printer for around the price of the epsom...what's the epsom software like??? The canon one is terrible

@@greyhound0z I don't use it Steven, so I'm not sure. I just print directly from Lightroom. I haven't had any problems with drivers or colour management though.

Are you using particularly thick paper Frazer? And are you choosing the most appropriate paper type in your print options? If it's not that, it might just be defective. Hopefully Epson can help you if it's the latter.

@@Robert-Bishop im only using 180 gloss, have put correct paper type into settings, ots happening with a4 front load and rear load, it sounds like when its coming towards the end of the paper it stops then the in arm goes across and back then prints the rest, i currently run a canon printer and have never had an issue with it its flawless but upgrade to this for a3 size, print quality is great just those bloody black marks lol

Sounds like you had really bad luck the Elias. Don't you have any kind of warranty with the printer?
