thanks for the tutorial! you can also do this with recycled plastic packaging bags from potato chips or junk food and cut em up!! made those before and they have the same crinkly sound effect and the inside of the bags are also silver and shiny so that's an added bonus! my cats love em

Thank you for making this! Our cats LOVE the crinkle balls from the store, but the ink bleeds everywhere once they drop it in a water dish. I wanted to make my own out of just un-colored/silver material and this very helpful! Keep up the good work!

Thank you for this tutorial! I wanted to buy some crinkle balls, but they are expensive now! Just like everything else I guess (sigh). I knew you could make these from cellophane, but I couldn't remember how.

I gave my cats some crinkle fish toys for Christmas, and within an hour of playing with it one of them had one in pieces and was trying to eat the crinkle paper!

Hello! Can anyone tell me where I can purchase Mylar to make these? I've had a terribly difficult time finding any in stores, and those online seem to be quite expensive! Thanks!

Look in the gift wrapping department for iridescent "tissue paper". I know for certain that Hobby Lobby carries it. If you want to look for more at the best bulk price, they have iridescent cellophane that's the same thing but better at cellodepot.com - a whole 30"x100' roll for around $30. I believe they had shorter rolls as well, worth a look. I was just buying a lot for packaging my products.

Oh, and good luck! The iridescent stuff is fun to look at whether you're packaging products or making cat toys! Even if you can't justify spending $30 for a few cat toys, the roll goes a loooonng way - and has a decent number of uses. It'll last you years if you store it carefully (it dings up easily), and always release some dopamine when you look at it. Seriously, the stuff is that PRETTY.

I would guess now it could be ordered online or found in store for wrapping gift baskets...my guess. This was something my mom had bought years ago. It's called "mylar"
