We now have a third iteration of the holiday horror film Black Christmas. This time fueled with a female empowerment direction and a glossy PG-13 rating, does this new take on the classic slasher have merit in today's climate?

Honestly, the remake kind of makes me wanna watch the original more. Look, I believe in female empowerment and all that jazz. But can we please not equate female empowerment with misandry? They're not the same thing! Unless you're a radical feminist. And people like that are why I personally don't identify as a feminist. I have nothing against the actual movement itself. The radical misandry is what scares me personally. And despite my Herbert West profile picture. I'm not scared of misandry because I have cahones. I have XX chromosomes. No, I'm scared of misandry because misandry is a form of bigotry. And radical feminists aren't helping anything.

Horror movie fans can still be radical feminists. But this movie markets itself as a horror movie, when frankly its just not. Its just not a horror movie. Its a social justice movie pretending to be a horror movie. It lacks subtext. Shit, old friend of mine has become something of a radfem in the last year or so, she went to see it cos she wanted to see a horror movie with a feminist message. She texted me after and said it was shit. Sometimes a shit movie is just another shit movie

I don't care if this is a "Feminist" message film. Where does saying something is "Feminist based" okay to basically say "We are gonna shit on men and make them out to be all evil." That to me does not make anything okay. Its a nasty film directed at portraying a demographic negatively. If a film today said their agenda was to show all black people as evil and nasty, that film would be banned from release. Its only because feminists play the "victim" all the time, people think they are allowed to say whatever they want. Personally, I don't see how that is at all an acceptable excuse. I'm glad it bombed and I hope another film like this is never made.

The political messaging was overwhelmingly strong in this one. Well shot, but virtually nothing to do with the original. Black Christmas 1974 is my favorite movie so I obligated myself to see it. The worst thing about this movie is I can see how it would actually encourage misogyny and whatever else the movie’s agenda was set against.

If I want a Christmas- themed horror film, I'll stick with 'Krampus.' 1. That is actually a GOOD movie. 2. It's an original concept rather than a remake twisted to push an ultra feminist view. 3. It actually DOES portray women as strong and empowered without getting all over the top and preachy about it. The scene when Aunt Linda goes all "Mama Bear" on the evil toys in the attic with an icicle and an axe was, I'd say, a great example of that; Even though she was clearly terrified of what she was facing, the love she had for her family (Even those she had argued with earlier) gave her the strength and courage to fight off those monsters and save her loved ones. I'd say THAT's pretty inspirational and empowering. Great Aunt Dorothy then shotgunning the evil toys later was pretty cool too.

I wanna see a remake, where maybe something about Jess's baby that she was preggers with at the end of the first movie, I mean she talked about getting an abortion but she didn't in the movie, and if Billy wasn't her boyfriend which we know it wasn't seeing as Billy was talking just before the credits roll and he is in the attic, then I can think of a great sequal which takes place years later where Jess kept her baby and now that child is grown and is attending the same sorority and school and well.......... Something like that anyway, obviously Billy was targeting Jess for a reason which maybe can be explained in my sequal and now maybe he sets his sites on Jess's daughter, I mean idk, I am no writer, but I have been hoping for years for some kind of sequal that answers all our questions from the first one

I want a sequel that takes place a few years after the sorority murders. Since the movie came out in 1974, then the sequel should take place in 1976 or 1977 at the most. A new group of sorority sisters move in to the house and Billy strikes again. But this time we get to know more about the killer's intentions and his past.
