Ive just watched your reaction video and have been crying, yet again !!!! I cant tell you the reaction this episode has provoked in me. This episode has seriously got to be the greatest love story ever commuted to film/tv. I found myself today telling my 10 and 12 year old son and daughter about the episodes one by one in great detail as they have been so amazing but my children are not are not old enough to watch them but are real cinephiles and then got to this episode. When i tried to tell them how it ended and what the character Kelly does towards the end as her ultimate gesture of love, i just became totally overwhelmed and couldn't get the words out and started weeping and saying "wow, wow" with a smile on my face as tears rolled down my cheeks. Great video and a true reflection of the power of this masterpiece Dan

Love this episode of black mirror. Ok so Black mirror is a really good show, every episode is different and not connected to any other episode. so if you miss an episode it doesn't matter, my advice is miss season 1. As it's a bit drawn out,,, this episode you just watched is unique in that it's the only episode with a happy ending.... any who ideas for you, person of interest is a really good show, it has any Ackerman and Sarah Shahi in it, ( I say no more) and Winona erp is also good, and orphan black is really good. Let's hope you choose something soon as your reactions are really good x

15:50 "Why is one angle shot on a tripod and the other handheld?" I mean I doubt this is intentional, but you could say that, because the handheld is from Kelly's side (I don't wanna say perspective because it wasn't a POV shot), and the natural shakiness you get with handheld, it's indicative of her frailty, whereas the tripod shot from Greg's side represents the fact that he's young and stable. I know that doesn't explain why the long shot of them both is handheld, but I guess it's one way of looking at it.

A comment from an old straight man. :) Watching many youtubers react to this episode is interesting to me. One observation (in general). Those who have seen all the prior episodes of the series (which are brilliant writing, but definitely not happy endings) react very differently than those such as yourself, who watch this one episode without context. (Mostly bcs of word of mouth). Also, as an old guy, I admit the tears flowed for me...& most old folks I know who saw this. We were hit by the deep question raised regarding just how you would view this if it really was an option? That's why that scene with Kelly relating her husband's story was so important. No other "lesbian episodes", but if you like stories with imagination which make you think...you should watch all the episodes. Just don't expect more feel good stories...lol.

You guys imagine if there actually was something like heaven. The chip was something like a backup of the mind, the consciousness which was planet in the servers forever. But the actual mind and soul went to heaven after death. Meaning all these people that decided to manifest their consciousness in this virtual reality missed out on actual heaven. Something we couldn't even imagine while being alive, something not comparable to eternity but much greater. Crazy to think about.. I am not religious, but the thought is quite interesting
@DonnaBrooks
@DonnaBrooks 4 жыл бұрын
Your comment didn't make sense. You wrote: "something not comparable to eternity but much greater." Are you talking about a spiritual heaven or the VR heaven? B/c the spiritual heaven IS for eternity, so if what you are talking about is NOT comparable to eternity, then you must be talking about the VR, which means you are saying the VR is "much greater". It's super confusing which one you are describing with each phrase. Vague antecedents give place the burden of trying to understand you on the reader. If you want to be understood, re-read your comments & see if there's anything that might not be clear TO SOMEONE ELSE. We can't read your mind.
@DonnaBrooks
@DonnaBrooks 4 жыл бұрын
This all comes back to the question of what is consciousness. If it is purely a biological process of the brain, then we lose consciousness when our brain dies & the only way we can live on is to upload everything that makes us "us" to a computer. If, however, consciousness is some amorphous "soul" that lives on OUTSIDE the body w/o the aid of technology, then you have to have somewhere to "go". That's why people believe you go to Heaven or Hell or purgatory or become a ghost or whatever. Science is just beginning to learn how to interface the human brain directly to a computer (to control the cursor or give simple commands). From the study I've done of the Bible, it teaches that God's Kingdom will come TO EARTH (Isaiah's Peaceable Kingdom, the Lord's Prayer, John seeing the New Jerusalem coming DOWN from God, the New Heaven & NEW EARTH, the bodily resurrection (a "glorified" body, like we would look in San Junipero, in which we are healthy forever, not a zombie body!), "the first shall be last", the faithful in Christ will judge angels, etc.) But lots of people believe we live on only as souls w/o bodies in some afterlife where we don't do anything except praise God (Heaven) or suffer (Hell).
@MonkeyDLars
@MonkeyDLars 4 жыл бұрын
@@DonnaBrooks First of all thanks for the elaborate answer(s). It's nice to be noticed :) In regards to your first comment I might add that I was not trying to make sense according to our logical reception as three dimensional beeings. Eternity is something we as humans can neither feel nor percept. We can only define it as being endless. When I wrote: "Something we couldn't even imagine while being alive, something not comparable to eternity but much greater.", I was clearly talking about the hereafter. If there was an afterlife, or as you may put it: "spiritual heaven", I think it would take place in another dimension, becuase we can't imagine a scenario in which our conciousness attached to our soul leaves our materialistic body. It just doesnt make sense. A scenario like that will never be programmed, no matter which technological developement we may achieve. It's just not possible. Everything we program and develope in the future will be limited to our imagination and our phantasies. The afterlife (if there is one) is definitely not something we can define and put into code. I wouldnt want to be uploaded to San Junipero after my death because the thought of potentially missing out on another dimension/state of mind would be driving me insane. Living an endless life is just not how things are supposed to be. And to address your second comment: My whole theory is based on the presumption that our conciousness is NOT a pure biological progress of the brain, so no need to unfold this terminology. That's an interesting study you did there. I am not going to comment on it though because it's very specific religional philosophy and I am not well-read on this topic, so you're on your own! Greetings from Vienna! :D

Sorry, it just seems like a happy ending on the surface...the creators are making an assumption that the audience is capable of critical thinking after 3 seasons...Yes, it is very dark, like all the episodes. and the theme running through the entire show... Despite the brilliantly produced uplifting ending (and putting irrelevant sexuality aside), the underlying theme is control of one's consciousness (call it the soul for lack of a better term) beyond the grave. If people could (willingly) be perpetuated in heaven, the same applies to being (unwillingly) sent to hell (think death row inmates or political 'enemies'). Black Mirror is one heck of a show that touches on things everyone needs to think about...can't wait for Season 4. REPLY Hide replies

No offense, truly.. but watching the many reactions to this episode, one thing is consistent. All of those who watch because they have heard of this being "a lesbian episode" focus so much on that aspect that they miss a lot of the brilliant writing & concepts. The impact of the episode is much greater for those of us who went into it "cold"... knowing nothing & therefore being confused, yes...but paying close attention to everything being said.
