Milwaukee PBS and Black Nouveau took part in the annual Milwaukee Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday, June 19th. During the day, Black Nouveau videographers captured the highlights, television production students recorded interviews and editors back at the station pulled all of the pieces together for a prime time Juneteenth Special at later that evening.
The Milwaukee Juneteenth Celebration has been held for 53 years, making it one of the longest running Juneteenth celebrations in the United States. Juneteenth, also know as Emancipation Day, is a national holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.
