A highly isolationist, mineral based economy... becomes a technological powerhouse and economically prosperous with an oligarchy supporting a monarchy. Its a comic book, its meant to inspire. At least what way is nice.

Great Video! You made realise how much of an impact a well thought-through side character can have on a child's life. You don't think about stuff like that when most of the characters in most movies fits your apparance or gender.

You can talk to your high school guidance or university and ask if there are specific courses you still need to take, and what kinds of bursaries there are out there for kids. Lots of universities have scholarship programs for marginalized students. Take all the boosts you can get. It’s not easy out there but you might be able to do it

Well, wasn't wakanda extremely isolationist? Role model for black girls sure, but not really strong on global collaboration. Plus, for more balance, you could cover how well, historically, isolationist countries did on grounds of science.

But the point is that they were able to be scientifically superior without collaboration with the rest of the world. That is highly improbable and there are no examples like it in the real world.

Yes because race and gender matter to science, scientific discoveries, and technological advancement……….emphasizing the importance of focusing on skin color is troubling, by your own logic You should surrender your job and host positions to a minority female, you know….for diversity and equity’s sake.

I live in cape town. I am African. I love science...and so do my sisters. They have never needed a "Black Role Model" ....just great scientists to inspire them. ...is this channel going "Woke"? Cause that would really suck.

I worked with youth-at-risk, very briefly, some years ago. One of the kids there was a 17 years old girl who was taken out of her parents' custody. I won't get into the details of that here. She dropped out of highschool, and while she was in-and-out of different alternative education programs, she was also involved in sex work and other stuff of that sort. She was a clever kid, and seemed to be outright fascinated by technology. She always asked how stuff worked - and once it was explained to her, she would keep asking more: Why does it work the way it does? Why isn't it done differently? What if you changed X? What would happen to it then? I asked her if she considered going back to school, and pursuing a professional education in tech, since she was clearly into that. I quote: "I always thought the very best thing someone like me could ever be is a porn star, or something. I never thought that's a thing I could do." I didn't continue working there much longer, but on my last day, I made her promise me to actually stick to the new education program she was sent to. I really, really hope she did.

So Shiri is your new favorite role model in Marvel films, someone who makes a completely racist statement, "great another broken white boy for us to fix! Also the entire premise of Wakanda, a technologically advanced place hidden from the rest of the world with super smart people and yet they still use combat to the death to pick their ruler? Yea makes perfect sense to me as does the tech being based solely on this mysterious element that has given them superpowers. I thought you were objective until listening to your woke diatribe but thanks for turning me off of your channel completely. "oh it's just so important to show Wakanda as being this fantasy world of super intelligent black people". Why? Just to make Marvel films more woke?

Give me a break. Wakanada is a neoliberal dream just like Japans isolationist society. When she makes that comment, it’s exemplifying her ignorance because despite her intelligence, she is very naive. Also, this is simply the sentiment of natives because whites have colonized and ruined native lands, begging for helps then screwing over natives. Both the left and the right are wrong here.

Not to mention, it’s not your place to judge what is backwards and what isn’t. The US bombs innocent people, puts needless sanctions on countries, sends the UN and world bank in places who didn’t ask only for the westerners to rape and pillage them. Read a history text book. The cia’s own investigations show the brutalities of the west and illegal actions in numerous places.
