So I finally had to try the "most expensive oil pastels" ! I know I got a good deal on these but dang they are expensive! I know you are probably thinking $150 is not expensive! Well for me I haven't spent more than $40 on a big set of oil pastels so this was quite the spending. Plus I'm a frugal qween! Anyways they are definitely worth the purchase if you are able to spend the money! I will definitely be using these conservatively! I gotta made them last!
I really hope you guys liked this review! I had so much fun trying them! If you guys have any ideas on what I should do next let me know! Love y'all! stay creative and don't forget to like and subscribe and click the bell so you know when I post next! :)!

Wow, what a relief to hear you say you don’t use the expensive supplies as you don’t want to “waste it”. I’m exactly the same. I’ve got beautiful soft pastel paper that cost $71 for ten sheets, and I use cheap sketch book paper because I don’t think I’m good enough yet. I hope I can get over this block someday, because the high quality art supplies get a far superior result, usually.

One thing I have learned and I wish someone had told me earlier on...Use professional grade art supplies because they act differently, and they are more pigmented so a little goes a long way. I now have mountains of student grade or mid range art supplies that I practice new techniques with and now I building my professional grade stash. Invest.

I can't get over how you do such outrageously gorgeous work using Crayola oil pastels, much less what you're going to do with Sennelier. I have Crayola and I think they're great for inexpensive oil pastels, but what you do with them is pure magic. How do you do that? You're awesome!

Always buy the best art supplies. Your customers will appreciate that 100+ years from now great, great grandma's old painting still looks as fresh and bright and colorful as the day it was made. Good to spray a finished work since oil pastel never truly dries, fights dust too. Cheap pastels or student grade don't have the same amount of pigment or inferior pigments and lack the archival qualities of professional grade oil pastels. Cheap supplies may have toxic binders such as lead or other heavy metals and the pigments may be fugitive and may even disappear or shift color over time. Use the best materials. You want your art to live on. SennelIier is pronounced "sen-nell-EEEE-aye" Very French

I don't understand why you don't like what you created. I LOVE it, as much as I love most of your paintings with Crayola. Painting with Sennelier is not easy, because you need to apply a different pressure on the paper... and yes, it's intimidating to work with them when you think of the price. Been there. Just enjoy them! You're a great artist and I sincerely admire your passionate and fearless style. Greetings from Montreal.

I have always been an artist and even when at war I drew and painted when I could. I have been looking at your videos on KZfaq and I like them very much. Your artwork is freaky as hell! But that’s what I like about it. Your use of color and form us unique and masterful. I wish I could purchase one of your originals eventually. Keep up your fine artwork. It is amazing! I currently live in Texas after moving here from Oslo, Norway and London. Texas is freaky also but not in a good way. It’s full of Trump loving real estate salesmen wearing cowboy hats and driving Escalades. Your work as I said is freaky in the best way and amazing. I will keep watching your videos. You shouldn't be approaching it with the concern of its pricing at all. That is how you are holding yourself back. Plus you can offer your paintings for more $$ than your crayola based ones. So yea if you are selling art on the regular, that shouldn't be an issue at all.

Ive heard from alot of professional artist (myself included) that using expensive supplies is always a struggle because in your head you want to use them in ONLY the best works as to not waste. If only we were t our own worst critics

Price of materials matters even when selling your work. Because the average artist, even when they're making sales often, isn't rich. And you have to factor in that cost to the price of your work and unfortunately, higher price equals less opportunity to make sales.
@thedeafgenius

@@calmcuke6865 Not when they price their works properly. If they are selling them for cheap....that is their problem and they are not doing the art world any favors. They are also the reason why everyone wants $500 piece for $50.

gahhhh i LOVE THESE PASTELS! i copped the 24 pack a few months ago.... and I don't use them on their own due to the sheER POWER. they're vital due to the pigmentation, but i use harder pastels like craypas specialist and neopastels which i find creamy but also tackier than sennelier's lack of self control when it comes to marks on the paper. ooof i could go on. the mix of harder and softer oil pastels lets me control the marks and texture a lot more.

I love your art work it’s so pretty. You have actually inspired me to start working with oil pastels. Watching your videos helps to give me an idea of how they work and how to use them. Thank you for posting you amazing art work. I love the amount of color you use, the variation but it all still goes so well together. It just makes me feel like picking up my stuff and drawing.

I'm really glad that KZfaq's algorithm suggested this video to me tonight. You are so talented -- it was exciting to see this beautiful piece come together. Looking forward to watching more! Question about the fixative -- do you think it's strong enough that if you were keeping your pastel work in a sketchbook, that the sketches wouldn't smear?

I also just bought a set of Sennelier - all 250. My darling husband wiped the box with bleach so I could have it ASAP (otherwise we let all mail and packages sit in the front hall for at least three days to decontaminate). And yeah, this was pretty much my reaction, too: SQUEEEEE! I am finding they work excellently for pointillism - intense colour, ability to be accurate about dot placement, wonderful range for each hue. Not so good for colouring in large areas - poof, half the stick is gone! But fortunately, this brand sells individual pastels. Love your art, love your self expression, love your use of colour - your portrait pieces are so powerful! Hope you never stop!!!

This was fun! I normally don’t watch “unboxings” but I was really curious as to how the quality would be different. Love your excitement! I do hear you about being reluctant to use the more expensive art supplies. I felt the same way the first time I bought Prismacolor pencils, took me a week to be brave enough to start using them. But I really love them now and am not interested in using anything else. I rarely, if ever, play around with oil pastels, but you inspire me! Your work is fabulous!! Thank you!

I'm not a fan of that style of art... HOWEVER!! That "off the cuff" piece is gorgeous. You need to totally be selling your stuff! Your style is DEFINITELY aided 10 fold by the deep vibrancy of high quality artist level pastels!! You deserve to be working with it. After all you can only be as good as the tools you work with. Start collecting 2or3 pro level oils from open stock from places like Jackson Arts based from London or Jerry's ARTARAMA or Dick Blick. You deserve it

Sennelier is pronounced Sen-nel-lee-eh (the last is said like the letter A). It’s French. The pastels are expensive because of the higher cost of pigments used in them. As you noticed, they are buttery and rich in color. They will also be more lightfast than less expensive pastels - better for display work. Hope you enjoy them!

When you said that these pastels were so delicate, yet they felt like you were drawing with lipstick, I understood completely! I likened my experience to drawing with an expensive stick of room temperature butter. Silky smooth vibrant colors that require little effort to use. PS: I absolutely LOVE your impromptu drawing. It's fucking FANTABULOUS!

I’m a Sennelier addict , although Caran d Aches Neopastels are a close second. Great painting , excellent review. Love your style. I use Sennelier fixative but let the paintings harden for a couple of weeks. Then give 3 light sprays letting each coat dry for 24 hours. You’ll be amazed. Sennelier oil pastel pad is another super winner. Enjoyed your review very much.
