@@crikstrucks2409 One 8 of pretty much any caliber is a little weak in my opinion but I'm used to one 12 in a small suv with good power running it so it is honestly a personal opinion.

@@2008guelo small world man thanks for the kind words. But yeah I cant wait like they say it's always a work in progress. The box I built with my cousin 2 years ago is a 4th order so it protected the sub that I know of. Coincidentally this is the second sub for this birch box, first was a cheap 300w max kicker took 400w like a champ, lol. Blew it after 9 months and got a ct sounds tropo xl 12" in it now. Sounded great even under powered @1ohm and 1200w 👊👍😃

How do you like that Orion amp, I have the same amp on single avatar stu 15 on stock alt and 200 amp hours of AGM but I start to clip before it starts hitting hard notes. I'm looking into Deaf bounce apocalypse 4900.1 , does 4900 rms at 12 v and over 5k at 14.4

Like a fad or something. Still impressive to see a dozen 8s but ur right , can fit an 8 ur right there in range to fit a 10. I ended up with 4 8s on 3k in one of my set-ups, was VERY impressed with them.

@@erik120719 yeah I guy I follow had 4 of the 8's under back seat of his truck. He says it's loud, but just doesn't get low and loud like a 10 or a 12.

@@1ohmwrecker I had mine tuned to 30hz, destroyed the dash in my truck and cracked the window, window wasn't a fluke, guy I sold them to had same truck, cracked his window also lol...design flaw in that truck maybe tho...he's got em in a Yukon and u can hear him coming a LONG way away. Don't sleep on 8s for sure, when I started in early 90s 8s we're garbage, rather have had 6x9s but they came a long way

I'd go with the P3s. Not knocking Skar in any way. I have 3 Skar amps and 4 Skar subs and I'm happy with all of them. But for clean, accurate, musical bass, RF is hard to beat.

Uh, yes. Cone area is King 👑. That's the science behind it. That single 18 has a lot more cone area to move air than two 10's do. In fact, that single 18 has more cone area than most two 12 inch subs would. Every sub will have a slightly different amount of cone area depending on how much stiff cone vs surround it has on it. That's why people don't use those super mega roll surrounds on subs when they are doing real SPL competitions. Sundown themselves have different surround options, and when you order a subwoofer built for SPL, the sub will have a much smaller surround on it and more actual stiff cone area. That's why I like the subs that use the tall but thinner surrounds. Those let you fit in more actual cone area but still let you get good excursion to move lots of air for the lower frequencies. Anyway, I hope I have explained why cone area is more important than any other metric for a subwoofer. The more air you can move, the louder the bass will be, and 18's have by far the most cone area. My personal favorite are 15's personally, because two 15's will use around the same air space as a single 18, but together they will have more cone area than a single 18, so that is where the sweet spot is for me personally.

Smaller typically have cleaner puncher bass tho atleast that's how it seemed when I tested out different subs at my local Audio shop

@@The_MEMEphis yes the bass response was incredible. The ported side was tuned to 28hz and the sealed side to 36. I have Rockville 6x9 woofers on their own amp that picks up where the subs drop off around 70hz. Dedicated amp for the front mids/tweeters. The box costed more then the rest of the system itself not including head unit and sounded absolutely beautiful. The first system I ever had that I heard notes in songs that I didn't know where there and first system I didn't have to have a certain playlist of songs that sounded nice because prior systems only hit certain bass notes well.

I'd challenge the dd with a soundqubed hds2.108. absolute monsters, had 4 on just over 3k for a long time and guy i sold em to still banging em.

@@DTW-bx2vy that number is not the complete bl rating, there's a process that is used to determine the gauss rating and right before the final bl (usually between 5-35) is a high number between 270-350, I'm sure they just didn't post the full calculations as there is a way to determine the true bl off the bigger number I just can't remember exactly how

Yes just did some research and the higher the bl is the more cone control and motor force. A Bl of over 30 is considered high.

@@DTW-bx2vy I'm telling you no subwoofer has a Bl of 300 lol. It's a typo if anything, but as I said the process in determining bl usually gives two numbers, a high one and a low one. They are just posting the high one

@@DTW-bx2vy just researched the b2 stuff specifically, that's the squared rating. So the square root of those numbers is the real bl rating comparable to the ones seen on EVERY other sub. Including some of b2 subs. Respectively, somewhere around a Bl of 9.5 for the 8, and 17 for the 12. About average.

@@DTW-bx2vy which one? The skar ddx has a Bl of 33. It's not unheard of to get into the 30s that just means they have more cone control. I've seen most of sundown's subs bl rating are between 17-28
