I have literally almost run out of tears, listening to "The Happiest Girl" since I first heard it. There is so much raw emotion, such a feeling of pain and loss, in all the girls' voices! I felt like I got to experience new facets of the vocal abilities of each of them, the softer, more soulful side, but there was one most-powerful driver of my emotions. Before I expressed my opinion (formed in the first moments of listening to the song), I wanted to hear what others had to say, so I watched various reaction videos, including yours, over several days. The faces told me I wasn't alone; in fact there was a definite pattern to nearly every person's physical reaction: 1] The opening piano notes (shock, confusion, fading smile) which lasted through both Jennie's and Rose's lines, until 2] Jisoo's first line (soft “Oh” followed by a heartfelt “Jisoo” and a clutching of arms across the heart... the universal hugging motion), then 3] Lisa's lines (sadness and even tears). Throughout the rest of the song, the strongest physical reactions seemed to occur whenever Jisoo sang, which was exactly what I had felt. The other girls were incredible; Jennie pulled me into the story with her soulful lower register, Rose controlled my heart with her beautiful voice and absolutely brought fire to the crescendo, Lisa stunned me with her gorgeous, emotional vocals, but Jisoo... Jisoo made me cry... she made me want to hug away her pain. I do have one question, for anyone who might actually have access to the OFFICIAL answer. The videos that have lyrics included show Lisa singing: “Don't change the truth we can't undo The high we chase, steal the crash, no You're not the one who gets to cry” I've tried to untangle the lyrics so they make sense to me, with no success. I've run searches for OFFICIAL postings of the lyrics, but found none. I've listened to the song, over and over, and what I hear is: “Don't change the truth, we can't undo The high we chased 'til the crash, no, You're not the one who gets to cry.” So... what is the OFFICIAL word? Does anyone else have an answer or an interpretation of what “chase, steal the crash, no” might mean? Thanks for any help! And especially thanks to BLACKPINK for this powerful song! Tears are medicine for the soul, and need to be applied as quickly and as often as necessary; now I know how to break down my resistance to taking that medicine.
