BlackRock's Fink Says ESG Narrative Has Become Personal

BlackRock Inc. Chief Executive Officer Larry Fink says the asset manager is "trying to change the narrative" around ESG investing after facing political attacks over its investment strategy. "For the first time in my professional career, attacks are now personal. They're trying to demonize the issues," Fink says at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

It already is, it's explicitly asking corporations to go against the intressets of their other shareholders ending up with unprofitable companies and bleed money on useless BS while becoming reliant on an ever increasing flood of more investor capital to cover the losses. But good luck suing them over it, legally they have like 3 degrees of separation from it and it's not like they can't afford to drag it out for decades.

Why did the mob sell "protection?" Why did the corrupt members of the Catholic church in the Middle Ages sell indulgences? ESG is just the latest "protection racket." If you are unfamiliar with how the scam works, Wikipedia has a decent article titled "Protection Racket."

Undisclosed ESG investing is a breach of fiduciary duty. If an index fund is voting for things to decrease the shareholder value of the underlying asset, the fund doesn't pay for that - the investor does and often the investor has no idea.

Most of the money that asset managers like Blackrock control is placed there by pension fund managers who are part of the woke sphere (state, municipal, union, etc.) Even though the money is pledged to the beneficiaries, they have no say as to where its invested. Surely you have an example, where ESG has been in place long enough to prove its viability and effectiveness. Asking investors to sign on to a concept, with no knowledge of it's viability and no clear understanding of who exactly is on the hook - besides the investor - if it turns out to be an "FTX" catastrophe. I'll wait to hear back. In the interim, I'm moving my IRA to Vanguard.

Larry Fink is an ignorant man. The assets in Blackrock funds are owned by individual investors. The world is not getting away from fossil fuels. Carbon Dioxode is not toxic. 400 parts per million is historically low. In fact currently carbon dioxide levels are less than half of the historical mean.

ESG was profitable earlier, now it’s not anymore. It’s as simple as that. Partnering was always profitable but now it’s also socially acceptable. Case in point, Aramco CEO sitting on Blackrock’s board (not too long ago Blackrock was critical of Saudis for butchering a US journalist but that’s of course behind us.) Also, I’m sure that partnering with some Russian oligarchs might just be equally profitable. Why let morals or conscience get in the way of profits?
