In this video I install a mechanical oiler on my air hammer. Assalub was kind enough to help me get the right unit for my machine. A similar oiler was originally part of the machine, but was missing when I got it. The drip oilers I had didn't work well at all, mainly due to the back pressure changing with different loads on the machine.

I’m not sure if anyone else noticed this, but I’m in love with your audio edits. Once the power hammer kicks on, your cuts between shots synchronize the tempo of the hammer. And you even have the hammer fading out as you transition to the shot at 15:34. You have a musician’s ear!
@torbjornahman

Not many would notice that! It actually takes a little effort to make the cuts seamless. Thanks!

The moment I saw the test bracket I said to myself, " Torbjörn Åhman does not make a mount for an oil pump out of wood!" Brilliant job on the oil pump. I half expected to see him sink into the melting snow like he was still hot. Fun project. Must have taken a lot of restraint not to use any swages. For a minute I thought you were going to thread his nose on and have a squeaky noise putting him together. Excellent as usual. Quite the upgrade on your oiler.

That air hammer has always impressed me with its range of striking force. I haven't seen any others that are capable of such delicacy - or at least I haven't seen any other air hammers operated with such finesse. I am very glad to see that you have given it the care and respect it deserves with this mechanical oiler; I'm sure it will extend the life of the hammer. I cannot imagine that this wouldn't please the ancient dwarven smiths; I'm sure they will reward you generously in the future for this act of kindness and responsibility (if they didn't gift you with the oiler in the first place). Where I live, 16.9° C is a pleasant summer day! The snow would be long gone.

A very interesting lubrication system. We have ratchet pumps. The driven hammer pulley has a groove in the shape of an eccentric. The pump has a thrust with a spring. It runs around the eccentric, thereby feeding the lubricant to each turn of the pulley. The balls are made by this method deserves special praise. I apologize for my English.

Nice oil system upgrade, probably much simpler to operate and maintain. I must confess however that I miss the look of those 2 old glass oil reservoirs. it looks like an update from the Victorian era to the 1950ies. For me progress at the expense of pleasure to the eye so to say. Great snowman, I was expecting it to melt into the snow at the end... Now you can enjoy a snowman year round...

While it’s below zero temp at your house, it’s over 40 degrees Celsius at mine, the big snow man wouldn’t last 5 minutes here!
