Criminally underappreciated. It's a Marvel superhero movie made by Guillermo Del Toro with Ip Man and Hellboy in it and it's every bit as cool as that sounds like it should be. It's like a gift to fandom that far too much of fandom doesn't know about.

I was in film school when this came out and believe me, the movies that came out in the early 2000’s that changed everything were, The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Movie theaters were begging people to not try the stunts at home. I still see people today trying to drift and crashing.

I will forever stand by the notion that Luke Goss is grossly underrated as an action-based, dramatic actor. His chops as Nomak were great but his role as the elf prince in Hellboy II is nothing short of classic. He needs to be brought into the MCU or DC or John Wick universes. Something. He deserves more than his B movie status.

Blade gets bashed and thrown into all sorts of unyielding surfaces, but his shades always stay on. Blade Shades! Your reactions are great and so funny. John’s range of horrified expressions stands on its own. Roxy’s comments are pure gold. I know it was done to keep from being blocked for excessive gore, but I am grateful that the worst grossnesses were blurred out. I love the “no Reapers were harmed in the production of this movie.” Pure Del Toro humor there, very funny. Wesley Snipes, the quintessential Blade. He does it all, very believable, can’t look away. And as a bonus, we get the rest of the great cast.

Yay! Loved this one as much as the first. ❤😊 Edit: John's face when he sees the full extent of how nasty the reapers are, is pure GOLD. Exactly how I felt as a teen when I first watched this 😂 Props and design were ON POINT for this instalment! 😅

The Reapers are obviously a prototype of the vampires in The Strain, also a Del Toro masterpiece.

Wesley Snipes always did the character Blade Justice. I haven't seen this movie in years glad that you two liked it. I saw all three, and the third one isn't that bad, as people say. It is humor in it with Ryan Renalds and Jessica Beil. I like that one, too.

This movie was the Aliens to Blade 1's Alien. Took it up a huge notch and introduced tons of great characters (none of whom survive).

This is my favorite of the trilogy. Honestly one of my favorite vampire movies really. This was one of the first roles I ever saw Norman Reedus in (instant fan). I wish I still had the soundtrack- it was just one hit after another. I seriously wore that CD out 😊

This one I think is even better than the first,Wesley Snipes is great but to have Ron Perlman and Donnie Yen the villain is played by Luke Goss he used to be in a British boy band with his twin bother called Bros from the 80s.

Fun fact Roxy...the drug scene with the blood not that crazy. Blood meal has been used for plant fertilizer using dried animal blood. And recently universities have been studying drying human blood to store it for longer.

the reason why blade sided with the vampires was because it was going to be easier for him and other vampire hunters to kill regular vampires around the world than nomak's kind who they could only kill with sunlight rather than silver sunlight and stabbing them in the heart like it would be with regular vampires

Nomak was played by Luke Goss, a martial artist. He was in 2 Death Race movies, the second Hellboy and a lot of low budget movies. He is cool.

Vampires in this world don't want to take over....they've already taken over. In fact it was stated in the first movie that they have lived this way for thousands of years, just under the radar, into every aspect of human existence, and in some way having a symbiotic balance to it all.

The reason blade joined them was the fact the new vampires needed to feed every hour, they would have ravaged the population much more than regular vamps, whilst the normal vampires got blood from various sources, cattle, donors etc, the new vampires just ate everything they could.

I definitely agree with John that Blade follows in the tradition of Aliens (and Terminator 2, come to think of it) when it comes to upping the stakes for action, scope, and effects. Del Toro really has an eye for creepy popcorn flicks.
