Im looking thru just that. The music was all over the place in 83. So much new emerging genres along with more established bands. Birth of alternative,post punk, New wave there was a ton of great punk and pop. Even rap was in its earliest stages. What a time I was a senior in high school.

Great track. "Living on the Ceiling" takes me straight back to the Hammersmith Palais and seeing Blancmange in '82. A standing only venue that soon turned into a magically happy sweaty disco of sitars and synthesizers. One of the most beautiful nights of my life, and all for just £3.50, although the memories remain priceless 🧡

@@simonrusk3338I agree with you Simon. The Hammersmith Palais was certainly one of my favourite venues back in the day. The Brixton Academy was another that I loved being in. Maybe it's because both of these places had completely or mostly standing areas which created a brilliant atmosphere. All the best 🧡

Even my cat loves this song. Whenever my phone connects to Bluetooth this is the first thing it plays. No matter what song I listened to last lol

Neil Arthur is one helluva character: From that voice to that lumbering frame, to those illuminated eyes, he just draws you in & then you're spinnin' & spazz-ing.

It's amazing to remember hearing this as a teenager in the States. Never knew what they looked like back then. Fell in love with them solely through their music. Not just Blancmange but the same with many others. The music itself just took me places. ❤

Just seen Blancmange supporting The Human League in Hull. Really small venue (basically a car park with a stage). But I have to say it's the best gig I've ever been to. And everyone in the crowd singing along to this song. Blancmange were fantastic 🙂👍

Some bands just stay good. OMD is another from that era that also still feel to me like theyre at the top of their game.
@mxbx307 Жыл бұрын
@@GGoAwayy Last time OMD were on tour they sold out my local venue (at the time - I've moved since) within about 18 hours. 1500 seat theatre in a crappy town that everyone loves to slag off. Other big acts like Texas, Status Quo, Travis, John Mayall, Mark Knopfler all came to town on other occasions. None of them got a full house. Even Jimmy Carr only managed about 80% or so.
@GGoAwayy Жыл бұрын
@@mxbx307 I saw OMD a few years ago in Toronto when they opened for the B-52s. It was so weird because honestly, energy wise, OMD shouldve been the main act. They came out with so much energy and then the B-52s kind of seemed over it when they went on.
