That's the nub of it. I imagine results and performance are both important to all fans, but not equally so. Therefore when someone points out England didn't play well, those who care more for the result get angry. When someone points out they won, it makes those who care more for the performance angry. I accept both as true and move on, I usually care slightly more about performance than result, but less so in a short tournament than a club league season. It's all a complete waste of time anyway because we're arguing about what we as individuals see as more important to ourselves. It's like arguing that salt and vinegar crisps are the best and anyone who thinks it's cheese and onion is wrong. It won't end unfortunately, because it's not the quality of debate which drives revenue, but number of participants clicking and replying like we both have. It makes more sense to have hundreds of posts pointlessly arguing about nothing unfortunately.

England have played terrible throughout the whole tournament.
