Just wanted to thank you, I've got this motorcycle sitting for a while and although I had the service manual, never had the courage to try anything as it seemed complicated, thanks to you I was able to gather the courage to do the work and changed the oil, coolant and the brake/clutch fluids. Now it runs great again, it was my first bike and everytime I tried to sell it I ended giving up the idea, so I better get back on riding it again. Great channel!

There are two bleed nipples on the rear brake. There's another on the opposing piston and that should be bled first.

Thanks for this, very helpful. I've seen people use paper towel to soak up most of the old fluid from the reservoir to save time. I haven't tried this myself yet, but I might give it a try next time I'm changing over the brake fluid.

I've got some big syringes i use to suck out what's in the reservoir but didn't do it this time as I figured not everyone would have that kind of thing.

@@2wheelworkshop Was just about to say that. Plus the syringe works as a reverse bleeder as well. I typically empty the reservoir, reverse feed fluid, then bleed it the same way you did. That rear if I remember right has a dual piston and 2 bleeds screws...........or maybe that is my Suzuki......

Hi Brodie. Its Peter again, and I am a subscriber.I have a 93 ZX-11. I had asked you about adjusting the idle speed before. I have another question...I have the front brake lever, getting super firmly applied at times when I ride.. its scarey as the brakes go from not applied to locked on within a very short time. Once applied( without my input or squeezing the lever) their locked on. I can get them released by quickly opening both the caliper bleeders. But...sometimes that works for some time...other times it comes back in minutes. I have changed the brake fluid, bled the brakes, and brakes work as should till this intermittent seizing on occurs. Should I start by changing the brake handle and master cylinder...and rebleeding the system....or rebuild the calipers first. Thank you so much. Cheers!

Hi Peter. When I started reading your question I had the problem pegged as water in the fluid (as it heats up from brake operation it boils and expands, locking the brakes on) but you said you changed the fluid. Was the fluid new or had the bottle been opened previously and then stored for a time? As it is a serious safety concern I would go through the entire system and check/rebuild everything and finish off by flushing the system with brand new brake fluid. Good luck and be careful with your test rides. The last thing you want is the front brakes seizing suddenly at speed.

Thanks Brodie...I completely flushed the system...then used a brand new never opened bottle of prestone proper dot# fluid. It will do it sometimes when I get on the bike...when it's cold in garage overnight and I back it out of the garage...and just touch the brake. Very weird. I will replace the brake handle and master cylinder combo...and rebleed. Then...if better ....great...but...Willstill rebuild the calipers for peace of mind. Thanks so much for replying and affirming that rebuilding complete system is worth peace of mind....it is definitely not water. I went to great lengths to flush system with only brand new quality fluid that was sealed. Cheers Brodie!
