👍👍👍👍👍 Currently my favourite blend. The bready VAs come in sweetly and the perique adds that cinnamon note I love. It's almost like cinnamon bread with raisins. The flavours come out at different times and sometimes together, so it's never boring. It smoulders at a nice pace. A lovely daytime blend for me, it just feels right in relaxed sunny days. Good blends are expensive and difficult to get here but this one is always at the top of my tobacco shopping list.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ possibly my ultimate smoke. What I noticed is that the first few puffs are sweet then it eases into the spicy pirique and then the spiciness drives the bus for a moment. Then the flavors marry each in the end.

😃😃😃😃😃 I love Escudo with a cup of coffee. I found it on the sweet side which is nice because I don’t put sugar in my coffee. My tin note was sweet hay. As a new pipe smoker, I designated my Peterson System 312 smooth for Virgina and Perique blends only, and I get absolutely minimal if any tongue bite with Escudo. It is a well behaved smoke where how hot it burns is dependent on the draw. I definitely taste some caramel or honey covered raisins.

💚💚💚💚 4/5 i could not wait to try this blend i cracked this open Feb 1 as son as i woke up.. right out the tin (i had to buy more) smells like fresh moist raisin bread very tempted to eat it it smells so good it has definitely made its way into my regular rotation not a fan of fold n stuff i break it up into a fine ribbon and sip it nice ad slow... nice and sweet a little peppery goes great with a cup of coffee in the morning or in my case any time of day.. Happy piping my brother

😃😃😃😃 Thanks to your recommend Muttonchop, I ordered a tin of ENDL straight away. I have not been disappointed. For me, this blend is a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. It has a nice complexity of flavors with figgy-ness up front and some spice and pepper morphing in towards the finish. Mine came with the perfect amount of moisture to fold and stuff. I'm enjoying it very much.

🤩🤩🤩🤩 4/5 for me. I've had some sitting in a jar for just over a year, and in just that amount of time it has improved. A bit sweeter. You can see little shiny specks here and there from the sugars. I have several more tins that won't be opened until they have at least 5 years on them. I've currently got 2 coins smoking in my wiebe radiator while watching this vid. Kind of folded the first one, and rubbed the second one out. Easier to get lit that way. In the first part of the bowl, i get bready hay notes with a touch of sweetness right behind. Like bit of dark fruit. After progressing the bowl a few more minutes, the spicy peppery notes start making their presence known. Escudo has a nice perique balance of dark fruit and pepper, but not too much pepper. Quite enjoyable as far as VaPers go.

Smoked one of those magical bowls last night and I was loaded up with Escudo Navy Deluxe. This is one I’ll be returning to frequently.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was very impressed by this blend. The tin note didn’t have to strong of a scent in my opinion, and that made me somewhat weary that it might lack flavor as well. However, right off of light up this blend was full of a mild sweetness which developed into additional flavors of savory spiciness. All in all this was a delicious blend that I look forward to purchasing in the future.

This one was already in my stable so this is an easy one for me. The bready hay flavor I get makes this a good blend for those early spring morning walks. Takes me back to the place in the countryside where I grew up. Not overpowering just nice and calm with hint of possibilities to start the day. 😁😁😁😁

I'm a new pipe smoker. This is one of my first high quality tobaccos. I really enjoy this tobacco. It has almost a rich quality that is light but very good.

First time to me rating on the Blend Club and was pleased to see this was next on the list. 5/5 - This blend actually taught me how to slow my cadence. The flavors are wonderful. Although, I'm not sophisticated enough to point out specific qualities like hay or raisins, etc. I find this blend truly pleasing. It has a light, very spring-like draw. I found some spice in the retrohale, but it was not harsh. It leaves my mouth with a dry but sweet finish. I guess I differ with Muttnchop, in that I prefer to only dry it out a little. It has a greater tendency to bite when its too dry for me. But in my mind, it is the perfect, all-day kind of smoke and a great introduction to vapers.

This blend is very flavorful and complex while not being too harsh or boring. The balance of the spice of the Perique and the sweetness of the Virginia is just about perfect. Need to buy myself a tin or two or three or five.

🙂🙂🙂🙂 This has been a great smoke for me. The tin note for me was on the hay side with hint of perique. The smoke was rather smooth with subtle sweetness and mild moments of spiciness. I can definitely tell why most pipers consider this as the benchmark for vapers. I purchased a whole tin and it’s almost gone. Will be putting this in my rotation.

😃😃😃😃When opening my bag, the coins were not as dry as yours and were actually moist. Smells of figs, raisins, almost a leathery smell......I agree as I totally wanted to taste one! Easy to light and stayed lit....grassy taste, but had a hint of sorghum , I have never had fig pudding but I could imagine it tasting like this, maybe like bread pudding (raisins, sweet milk, and nutmeg)....all three times I smoked this it was very good....I did get a nic hit the first time but was minor the second or third time. Overall so far, my favorite and a actually ordered 3 tins!

Enough perique to know it’s there, adding good peppery spice to the very nice, bready Virginia. I’ve got several tins simmering in the cellar and can’t wait to see what age does to this excellent blend.

🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂 5/5 I really enjoyed Escudo. I enjoy pipe smoking in general but just haven't found a blend I truly loved. After trying this, I think I might have finally found it. Smoked it at my local B&M with my Father and I immediately bought a tin. Looking forward to smoking it some more. The tin note to me smells like raisins but I also smell a hint of apricots. The taste is complex, rich, and nuanced but fairly mild.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me as well. This was my second non-aromatic, but the first non-aromatic that I liked. I smoked this in the afternoon with an unknown cheapo brand briar as well as a MM Country Gentleman. I got the complexity that you did and enjoyed it as well. I did have to do a couple of relights, but that may be because of my unfamiliarity with packing coins. This will definitely be a tobacco that I would add to my rotation... once I begin one.

**** (4/5) I agreed with your overall description, although I picked up a lot more complex spice notes in my first bowl. Curly tobacco, I find, is harder to smoke. The fact that you move between methods confirmed that I'm not sure if the shipping these as coin is the best way, but then they'd have to change the name.

31/2*s of 5. I liked this blend very much. It had a good smoke and stayed lit very well. Slightly sweet taste (from the Virginia), but did not get much of the flavors you described. The scent was minimal, but may have been due to having a cold and being stuffed up.

:D :D :D :D Four out of five from me. I agree with pretty much everything that Muttonchop said. I found the sweetness in this tobacco to be quite surprising. Certainly reminded me of figs. I was surprised that this tobacco didn't bite me although I was smoking it in a new, rather petite, pipe on a windy day without drying it at all first. Like fig jam on toast. I found the spice primarily in the aftertaste with a little pepper lingering on the tongue. I did get a tiny bit of sourness here and there, probably because of the uneven distribution of Perique. Kept things interesting. This makes me look forward to the Dunhill DeLuxe Navy Rolls that I've been aging. Now that Dunhill is gone, it's good to know I can find this.

🦜🦜🦜 3 stars out of five. Very nice hay-like scent in the pouch. I found the flavour was almost non-existent until I got about a third of the way through the bowl(s). Very nice after that with lots of hay/grass flavour and a little bit of spice. Burned all the way down for me which is rare. Not my first coin-cut VAPer, I've also tried Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake, Dunhill Navy Rolls and Davidoff Flake Medallions. All seem mostly similar to me, but I would say out of the four of these the best tasting is Peter Stokkebye and also the best value. Nevertheless would definitely recommend trying this blend for yourself.

🙂🙂🙂 first time trying a vapor. It has a sweetness to it. The hay or grass taste is very strong and up front. I get a few hints of tang and spice. Sweet room note is tolerable. The smoke is a white, medium to full bodied plume. I smoked one disk in my corn Cobb pipe that filled it about 2/3rd's when breaking it up into pieces. I only use this pipe for blend club. 2-3 relights were probably due to large pieces of tobacco not packed tight. Stayed lit at 1/2. Tobacco was dry. It smoked good over all. I don't think I would buy a large amount or a tin since I don't smoke often. But, I am sure that eventually, I will finish the 3 remaining disks that I have from the blend club sample.

:-):-):-) 1/2 Tin note was very mild, a sweet hay with a touch of molasses. The taste was spicy, sweet, and peppery. The spiciness was very pronounced on the retro hale. The smoke was much thicker than I expected. The room note was reminiscent of a cigar. I also experienced a slight nicotine hit. Overall, it was enjoyable, and I would recommend it.

3.5 rating out of 5. I like it much more than Maltese falcon and plum pudding that are a couple of your favorites.. but everybody’s pallet is not the same. I find this blend to be complex and it’s smells better in the can then I’d hope it to be during the smoking experience. I enjoy your reviews and I feel that you encapsulate each tobacco blend with accurate and experienced definitions.

You mentioned Gallaher, I've been enjoying one of the old tins of Gallaher's Rich Dark Honeydew that my grandfather left me. It's probably from the 1950's. Is this tobacco comparable?

😀😀😀 This is pretty good tobacco. I don't like strong perique, and the first half tickles the tongue quite a bit. After a while this diminishes and it becomes more enjoyable for me. Still a new piper, I would like to try coins with a little more sweetness like PS Bullseye, or Comoy #7. If you like pepper/spice on your tongue, you'll like this.

4 out of 5 from me, despite the fact this blend is inaccessible in Europe but I can have it in very limited quantities from U.S and Amen for that, I like this Esc better than Solanis 633 VaPer or Dunhill Navy Rolls for that matter both which of them are a bit brighter,tangy yet bitier and far from being mild but rather medium in strength, Escudo:a very good classic pure Vaper at its best not mild not strong but medium and benefits from some drying prior to smoke, Thank You and Greets friendly Yours, Paul Finland-Scandinavia-Eu

😭😭😭😭 Good Morning Chris, Since getting back into pipes, I've heard much good of Escudo. Bought two tins, dried two coins & rubbed them out. I smoked this blend at least five times. I enjoy the Virginia leaf however not the Perique. I must be only person who dislikes Escudo, yes i do not like it.

🐺🐺🐺 this is the first coin tobacco ive smoked and i am having a hard time finding the best way to pack it. It is a great smoke once it goes however. I could really get the bread flavor and a hint of spice. Will buy more.

💨💨💨💨 .5 I give this a solid 4.5 out of 5. If you are yet to try it get 2 tins, one for now and one for next year. Its amazing and an absolutre classic in the category, its not dunbar or cabbies mix which i would give as 5/5 but its very close and always available. One of my favourites.

4/5 -- This is a solid and classic blend, you cannot go wrong. It's crucial to remember to pick up a minimum of **two** tins at a time. This takes discipline, but as a new pipe smoker, you have a huge advantage-- your journey is _ahead_ of you. Sit on that other tin. Time will pass, and in 10 or so give or take 5 years, you will be rewarded. Even if it's not for you, your investment will have multipled so much that you will have paid off your original two tin order and then some. Think of that second tin as a voucher. If you don't open it, it pays for the entire order, so really, you can think of your tobacco as free, in so far as you remain disciplined and do NOT open that second tin. :D ... or at least this is how my monkey brain justifies my severe and pathological TAD.

👽👽👽👽 If your wanting to branch out and try a VaPer this is a excellent one to try. The virginia’s are sweet with a fig/wam bread flavor while the spiciness of the perique is mild and not overpowering.

The first time I smoked escudo it tasted like i was smoking an oak barrel. After a year or so of sitting in the drawer in my room i tried it again. Much better after it aged a bit.

😊😊😊 I didn't take to this one for some reason. It could be because I'm still a relative novice at pipe smoking and so far have trouble appreciating virginia and perique based tobaccos. First I rubbed out a single coin and had it in my quite small bowled Mr Brog green pear wood tomahawk pipe. For some reason it didn't burn that well and I wasn't keen on the flavours, hay and some pepperiness. After this I rubbed a couple of coins and smoked them in my bigger bowled Peterson XL90S. The tobacco burned much better in this pipe with more smoke and the flavours were better. Both pipes use a 9mm filter. Probably like most tobaccos I just need to persevere and smoke the tobacco more often to be able to fully appreciate it.

🐵🐵 I've smoked this for a while now. I get the bread from the Virgina and the tang from the perique. But it doesn't appeal to me as much as an English blend with latikia. There has been a couple times I'd get a hearty sweetness from the Virgina and it was fantastic, but that is few and far between.

Escudo is one of best Va/pers around...I don't like usually Va/pers but this blend is solid gold...earthy,spicy,plum..I think the older version A&C Petersen made the original now days I think is STC not sure. 5/5. Cool smokes as always,mate
