Awesome. Just came from the shop and was told the blend door was locked so warm heat and air. Was told 700 plus parts... I was like yes sure ok when I get the cash I will be back, was thinking ... KZfaq will help me! Well I was right, and I got a Dremel which I need anyway. Thanks so much!

Before you use just HVAC tape which is aluminum foil tape with adhesive you can drill holes around the box and on the piece that you cut out and you can basically use zip ties after drilling your holes as a permanent stitch all the way around that piece and then go over it with HVAC tape securing it and also knowing that it's not going to fall back inside

Do you happen to know what the part number for the Dorman kit was. I got a Dorman blend door from O'REILLY but it did not have the removable pin.

I live in FL. What you told me in this video is I will not have a heater anymore. Thanks though.

How did you remove the top pin of blend door
@sg1friz4 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem no heat found this video, removed the actuator worked the door by finger and confirmed actuator worked. Then put it back in, good as new. Now I reckon if the door is disintegrated as is this case shows in the video you.may have no choice.

I was just here to see how to put the blend door actuator on. I'm doing the heater core job at the moment so I got the dash out and since I'm in there I bought the blend door. In comparing the new to the old I noticed that the new one with the little notch in the corner leaves a gap for hot air to escape. I really don't want to put the new one in due to the gap but I feel I'll regret it later

Do you have the part # as the one I purchased from O'Riley's doesn't have the removable pin

Wouldn't the metal pin warm up the plastic and weaken it and eventually break?

Honestly bro. I liked where ur head was at BUT u actually did way more work than u needed too giving u even more time making repairs. If u would've just moved over like 10" to the left, cut maybe a 2" x 2" hole right in front of the damper like I did u can just push or pull the damper as needed. Ur only gonna do it once maybe every 6 months. Then I just used that flex seal shit (not the spray but the tape. If it can plug a hole in a pool while water is still in that shit it can take care of some cheaply made Ford plastic

Yep, my mechanic many years ago drilled a small home right in front of the actuator lever. I used a small piece of plastic and to push the lever one direction or the other. Been doing this for years.

Are you looking for the blend door with the removable axle? After the 5th attempt I finally got it from PartsGeek.com because of a customer comment stating that the axle was separate from the door. Parts Geek part number 5292-05571629 Dorman part# 902-220. It was $35 plus tax and shipping made it $50. I ordered from Amazon $21. Then from O'Reilly's $88, Advance Auto $88 and AutoZone $88 and they all say that it is Dorman's part 902-220 but the axle is not removable. I spent hours trying to track down the right part. I hope that this saves you some time.

Your video popped up and I like ya man. I have done this same type repair 2 times on different vehicles. 1st time was a dremel and second time was a multi tool. Multi tool is like ,, you can do surgery with it. I am always thinking, there's more ways to kill a cat than shoving butter down its throat.
