The blueprint method is the best overall method, however, one adjustment to the process is to import only the unique meshes and materials then assemble the building inside the blueprint from those components. For example, you have imported the same window and column many times, each with a repeat of the same materials. A huge waste of memory. Better to have them only once, then duplicate them in unreal so they are instanced. Also, having a master material and making material instances will save you a lot of time on loading the scene because you will have less shaders to compile each time. ;)

Hey a big thanks from me, helps alot. I have one Issue: After Import the File in Unreal Engine 4, some of my Materials, like the Tshirt are still White and not in the Color i used in Vroid Studio or the Color Blender shows in the Shading Mode. How can i fix that?

Unreal does the entire blueprint layout automatically by default if you go 'File>Import Into Level' instead of just dragging it into the content browser. That'll save you so many clicks!

he freedom thank you for the tutorial it's super helpful especially the compile part. however, how do you manage the collision of imported buildings so the character doesint bump into them. I tried setting the complex collision as the default setting but whenever I enter the building or house there is always a forcefield in the way and my character cant explore the building/house

Hi, in order to explore the house, you need to combine all the meshes in Blender, to make it become a single mesh. (CTRL+J). Then it is a single mesh object fbx import into UE, and set complex colision.

@@FreedomArts3D Hi, when I join the meshes in Blender and import as one object, I think I'm running into lightmap issues where only one surface accepts/reflects light while the rest are black. Do you have a tutorial for importing a complex object and handling the UV maps / Lightmaps?

I don't think you want to use complex collision for interaction with the player. You can create low poly collision meshes in Blender then import them with the high poly models. There are tutorials for that.

As far as materials go, do they always import with no issues? I was wondering if I should recreate all my materials inside of Unreal or not. I don't know if the complex shaders in blender can transition as easily as basic diffuse and roughness maps. Guess I'll experiment, see what happens.

When you did your experiments, what were the results? I saw another video about importing Blender models to Unreal, and the guy said to use PBRs. Even then there were issues. Normal maps don't copy over, and you have to put them back on the model. Have to import them again. Metallic always has a texture even if you didn't assign it. There's a plugin that's supposed to handle exporting, but I forgot the name. AskNk has a video on it. I might check it out since I'm getting tired of putting textures back into the materials.

hi, if you can make all meshes combined first and all material baked in Blender first, it will be easier. for my case, I just simply import everything, and nest all pieces of meshes into a blueprint in UE, and take it easy. that complicated model is not a game ready method.

Wouldn’t this cause a lot of Instance calls for each static mesh and slow down the performance.

Thank you for the video... I try importing the meshes from Blender to UE but the issue is that the materials all disappear. I see that your model is imported with all the materials embedded on the static meshes. How is that possible? What am I doing wrong?

Export as FBX, need to select path mode as "copy" and highlight the icon beside it, to get imbedded texture

Combine all the meshes into a single mesh in Blender by using CTRL+J, and import into UE, it set as complex collision.

Is there a new method to import all as static meshes with origin preserved, so that position can be edited individually

You can select all the indiv meshes in the content browser and drag them all at once into the viewport, without the blueprint. That way, their relative positions are preserved but they are still individual editable meshes.

@@ginho3848 Epic released a new patch for the Send to Unreal add-on, it can do it flawlessly now, earlier it lacked this feature to preserve instances, place objects on scene with rotations, scale etc You might wanna check it out
