Pinkiefan 13 I wouldn't say smartest, more like most creative. Since she did over look a lot of things, like how draining the Magic from the world would leave their society in ruins, or the that the young 6 had told her about the Tree of Harmony being sentient and that it had even talked to them, yet she never stopped to consider that maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea to set up her base of operations right under it's roots, where it would most easily be able to interfere in her plan's?... So while she's defiantly more creative then any previous villain, whether it's due to her young age and lack of understanding of the world or not, she's defiantly not the best at thinking ahead and thinking about the possible outcomes her plan's may have in the long run...... Hell even Chrysalis has her beat in that catagory.

@@Draconicus702 mean I think that she did consider the possibility of her losing because of the tree but she had a backup plan in case if that happens which will probably be reviled when she returns in season 9 but that's only my theory Even if she didn't think about it, I would still say that she is the smartest because with that logic we can also blame Chrystalis for putting Twilight with Cadance in the same... cage and later for just forgetting about Starlight and Discord We can also blame Starlight for not seeing that her actions will probably destroy Equestria, it wasn't hard to imagine that by stopping the elements of harmony from meeting something bad will happen And I'm pretty sure I'm able to find stuff like this about every villan in this show but that's not the point because they have to make mistakes in order to give the good ones to stop them Also I wouldn't say that she overlooked anything that would leave their sociality in ruins Because you see under these artefacts was a circle with some symbols on it and I think that they controlled what and how much magic will the spell take, I think that Cozy knew she couldn't take all magic because is would as you said leave their sociality in ruins so she asked Tirek how to take only specific parts and that's why: we can still see the sun and moon razing, there are still cutie marks, pegasus can fly, ponies don't look like they did in season 4 and it would overall explain lots of plotholes that wouldn't make sense in any other way that's also a theory but i thought about it and there's just too many proves for it to be wrong PS. I'm not saying that other villans weren't good, I loved most of them, just saying that Cozy is uncommonly smart for a villan in this show

Pinkiefan 13 well frankly if a characters doesn't out right state it in the show then I don't consider it an actual thing, so....sorry but fan theories to me at least don't count. And as far as the show is concerned Cozy didn't have any back up plans since she tried to run after her plans failed and she fully planned on taking all the Magic of Equestria so she could send it to another dimension or what ever. And what I meant earlier about Cozy not being the smartest is simply that Cozy is just about as dumb as the other villains are for the sake of plot. The Villains are easily my Favorite over all characters, but frankly they're all pretty dumb as your examples prove.....except maybe King Sombra since he didn't blindly over look anything that could obviously lead to his defeat, or even just act dumb for the sake of the plot like all other villains have done. I mean Sombra actually hid away the one thing that could defeat him in what had been his castle, and he even set traps in place to keep it out reach of his enemies.....I mean they didn't work but still.

I wouldn't try to come up with a theory about magic if there wouldn't be any plotholes, I hate those because if there are two oppositing statements in the show you don't know what you're supposed to believe and half of this finale controdicts what have been established in season 4 finale so if you want to believe in what the show says you have to find a way to connect these two statements... well I mean or you can just not think about it because it's a cartoon for little girls but nooooo that would be silly XD

In the case of Starlight it was, as a safeguard, since Cozy thought Starlight would be a threat to stop her plan if she wasn't put in that ball of magic beforehand. Cozy wasn't gonna make the same mistake Chrysalis did by underestimating Starlight

Agreed, people say her villain was underwhelming as a character but her specialty was her silver tongue, not brute force, or incredible magical ability. I like Cozy Glow as a villain because it was a fresh change up from another ancient deity/villain that just wanted magic. Granted she wanted to take over the world too but in a different manner.

"interesting" is maybe the best choice of words. In my opinion, calling it much else is a bit too charitable. So I can go with that.

Even so I could see her being the villain miles away they did a good job what villain she is. Manipulation, Corruption, Control, she outplayed everyone. And I love this. She was the first in MLP that gave me the feeling that this time they won't be able to stop her ^^

@@TurKlack She outplayed everyone because they were too pathetically stupid to ask any relevant questions. Idiot balling to allow the villain to succeed is NOT GOOD WRITING. There were plenty of occasions where anyone of reasonable intelligence would have thought something was off about her. Heck, they know Chrysalis is still out there. A natural assumption would have been that she was Chrysalis. Now, had they checked her and found out they were wrong, that would have given Cozy a plausible vehicle to then play on their sympathies as a wrongly accused child. But as it was, she stood out so starkly that half the audience (including many young kids) pegged her as the season's main villain the first moment she ever showed up on screen. The best surprise villains are the ones who are right in front of your face the whole time and you can't pick up on it, but then when fridge logic hits you realize the clues were subtly there all along. Doing that well is exceedingly difficult, and I don't know why these amateur show writers though they could pull it off. The one instance that comes to mind is President Berusa from the "Doctor Who" serial "The Five Doctors". As with Neighsay, there was a red-herring villain there as well: the Castellan, who acted adversarial and suspicious all along. But Berusa was supportive of the Doctor, and appeared helpful. He was perfectly hidden in plain sight, and yet once he showed his true face, we realized he'd been playing the audience as skillfully as he'd played the Time Lords. Cozy Glow telegraphed far too strongly that she was a fraud. Much more could have been accomplished with her had they simply revealed her openly as a villain and then played off her scheming in the background the entire time. That would also have given time to develop her character more than, you know, not at all.

Because she knew her opponents. Even Chrysalis was successful when she studied the main characters, except she didn't get the memo that Starlight had become the MC by that point, so she failed.

They always talk about "raising" the Sun/Moon because that is when they have to "show up" to switch & "take charge" of the sky for 12 hours (but it is still Celestia the only one of the two royal sisters who can LOWER the Sun without a "dark ritual powerup"); since it is "as difficult as raising it" because it never really changes distance relative to the ground [it is always a curved trajectory at a constant height over the ground]. -> Equestria (the part ruled by ponies) is just a country with a "real size" similar to Alaska or Texas [while their "planet" may be as large as Earth]. About ANY artifact: It would "fail"; getting depowered and/or disintegrate (like that "universal key" gem they used on the Gates of Tartarus) happenign at the same time, anywhere on Equestria. While they were technically speaking "in another plane" [you can NOT escape Tartarus by digging up the walls/ceiling]; the Gates themselves (on the closed position) are on top of a "boundary" between Tartarus & Equestria but only block things "physically" [so any "magic flow" will passthrough it since the gates are not "anti-magical"]. -> The actual position of the Sun in the sky is irrelevant (72 hours after Cozy Glow activated her seal is the real "time limit").

In Equestria I think that they treat creature as monster if: A) they're different from animals from out world (don't ask me how they can tell the difference coz I don't know XD) B) they're not inteligent(Can't talk) I haven't thought about this theory too much because it just came to my mind so if you have any examples that would prove me wrong I'm happy to hear them

That Half chicken half Dragon can turn you into stone with its stare instantly killing you. Changlings you either had to fight, or not even worry about because of the change to them later in the show.

@Naomi Yappa nah, they're not officially called monsters then, you never see anyone referring to intelligent creatures as monsters, that's what drowe me to this theory. But now, after thinking about it, I'd go even further, and say that creatures are monsters when they are a fusion of a couple of normal animals with magic.

Well, if anyone has a sense of sanity, Cozy Glow would be killed and beheaded right on the spot before throwing her corpse into an unmarked grave and UNPERSON her. Her plan would have likely caused a Class 4 or Class 5 (i.e. 'all multi-cellular life' and 'ALL life' killed off respectively) Apocalypse... and any sane person would kill any idiot that tries that sort of thing.

I didn't fall for her cute persona either, I just underestimated how good she was at manipulation

Except she had no actual way to gain power, she just seemed to think she would get authority if she trapped the Mane Six and got rid of magic (despite her only evidence that anyone put her in charge being a forged note). Her plan would never have worked beyond the getting rid of magic part. Twilight and company would have gotten back eventually and revealed everything, and Luna and Celestia would have arrested Cozy well before that. Basically while she is devious, she is also a complete nutcase.

She rolled a natural 20 on her Charisma stat, that's for sure.

Also if It were Chrysalis why would she try the cloning thing episode 13 that proves that Kozy is not Chrysalis.

Now that I'm thinking on it, I'm seeing (or deceiving myself into seeing) similarities between Cozy Glow and Dr. Regis Blackgaard from Adventures In Odyssey's golden days. Both were incredible manipulators, malicious, and were (are in Cozy Glow's case) set up to return very soon.

But they didn't do it for villains like Sombra or Tirek either, so it's not like it's something brand-new. I think it just feels different this time because Cozy Glow's a filly. Besides, Cozy will most likely be reformed in Season 9 anyway, since it's clear that she's not done yet.

Right they did it for the story there is no reason why she had to keep the spell going. It made a better to see the magic disaper.

The difference is more from storytelling concerns. Unlike previous episodes, whether or not characters can use magic is a central part of this finale's conflict. Before we reach Starlight, we see Twilight panicking over being late for the trip, magical glow all over the place in her rush to get ready. Then we move over to Cloudsdale and Starlight explains her cloudwalking spell and even nods to indicate her glowing horn. These short scenes establish with absolute clarity that "when ponies do magic, their horns glow." When Starlight fails to save Yona, her horn briefly glows, fizzles, then stops glowing and we're meant to understand that her magic stopped working. But sure, in-universe you may assume Starlight is using a different spell. Perhaps Twilight used a spell that she could cast once and forget about, while Starlight is using one she has to maintain continuously. You might even attribute it to her character: a preference for a spell that needs micromanagement could speak to her generally controlling nature.

Um, Actually Cozy didn't take all magic she just said so(Pegasus flight, ponies having energy, cutie marks stuff like this wasn't taken)

@@someothername2585 but if you watch carefully, No pony that's not a Unicorn or Alicorn got any magic back, except Pinkie. And it showed Twilight, Rarity, and Pinkie get magic sent back to them, but Applejack, Rainbow, and Fluttershy didn't get any sent to them.

And a silly fan theory on why we only saw Pinkie be the only non-Unicorn/non-Alicorn that had magic sent back to them: the Pie family are all part-Unicorns that never grew horns so they look like, and has the strength, of normal Earth Ponies, and have Unicorns a little farther back in their family tree. Funny thing is, this isn't TOO ridiculous: The Cakes are Earth Ponies that has a Unicorn and Pegasus foal. It could also explain why Maud has a "Maud sense"

@@Gokuvstheworld I was hoping I could avoid writing the same thing again but whatever: Cozy wanted to take only a specific amount of magic and that's what these symbols under the artefacts are for, Tirek explained to her how does this spell work and she created it so it would only take unicorn, artefact and creatures' magic because that's what she needed to make her plan work, she didn't need to take for example Pegasus ability to fly because it's not dengerous for her, she is a Pegasus herself and pegasus are nesesary for nature to work(rain, clouds, wether, stuff like this, it's all pegasus) So why did we see Pinkie's magic come back, I wasn't sure at first but I came up with a decent theory for it too, she didn't take Pinkie's chaotic powers because we've seen her do all sorts of 4th wall breaking in this scene with Tirek, she took her Pinkie Sense and it does make sense, we're not sure what can Pinkie sense tell to her but it probably could predict Cozy's plan in some way and she didn't want to risk it activating suddenly See didn't take most of the magic because that would cost anarchy, not an organized kingdom in which you can make as many friends as you want(because that's her goal)

well likely true. but they would have gave here the evil look when she goes off on her own. now this comes to beg the question. Why would she learn about the elements of harmony if she thinks she can make friends with just using power, control, manipulation, and force? not to mention that having magic disappear why would this make her powerful? she said it would go to another realm, how would that magic get to her. maybe the other realm she is talking about is probably where she came from. but still how would she gain the magic?

She didn't really learn about the Elements of Harmony, the mental ones that actually matter to the Tree and in the reality of the show. The only elements she learned about where the physical artifacts that where tied to them, the gemstones, the original elements, and the Tree of Harmony. All of which she used together to suck away the magic from every living creature.
